Family owns a small place up there with several family friends. There is good info posted already.
My Thoughts:
1. Most of the fishing is down in Almont/Gunnison area (30-45min from mtn).
2. There is good private fishing up on the mtn.
3. There is some decent public water up on the mtn but not much
Guides:
Craig McManus, CBMcTrout, is good. Lots of access to private water on the mtn (2 min from golf course). Good all around guide. Can be slightly harsh on beginners. Is a typical fishing guide in that manner. But want quick close private water fishing he is your guy.
Gunnison River Guides

Did a float trip with Joel last year and it was great. All day drifting on the boat. These guys do other things but float trips are what they do best. Found them through a guy here who's family new Jason personally. We both had good trips with them last year.
Fly Shops & in house guides
There are two shops in CB. Dragon Fly (
link ) and Crested Butte Angler (
link ). Dragon Fly has been around longer and is more in the middle of town. I have not fished with either, but found Crested Butte Angler more friendly and helpful with talking about public fishing. I have rented gear through them. From the people that have fished with the shops guides they all seem to be about the same. It depends on who you get. Book early and ask for their best guide for the type of trip you want. Hard all day fishing, easy access and easy fishing, shooting fish in a barrel, beginner, kids, ect. They will fit you with a good guide for your needs. Or just use Austin as suggested above.
If you want a float trip booking with a guide down off the mtn will be a little cheaper and I think better service.
Have fun and enjoy. If you can get access to the golf club ponds (or are willing to sneak in) there are really big trout in those lakes.
