For perspective the water at 1093 bridge is over 117'. Most of valley lodge homes were 110-111, new ones 113-4. The 94 flood was about 111, 15 flood was about 110.

It varies by up to a couple of feet, but these are true base elevations based on personal observations of current water against surveyed landmarks. The 110 bfe equates to around 122 on the san felipe river gauge and about 50 at the richmond gauge.

So its freaking bad. I predict the water will fan out some, but that richmomd will probably see every bit of that 53.5 they are calling for.

All predictions are off. So much water that we have never seen how it will react. Richmond is such a bottleneck for the water it's insane. Now that the big wave hit Richmond it just keeps backing up.

I-20 over the Brazos in North Texas...river is outside the banks up here. It won't be going down for a long time for the guys down south.

The Leon river and Colorado all looked the same.

Our Brazos River Authority contact spoke to us about the situation. We are grateful that they are release everything they can from those lakes up north. Thoughts are they saved this flood from being even worse. But they are full, to the brim. Every bit they can stage down stream saves us from another major flood.

Would be nice if the Allen Creek reservoir was available to adsorb some of this flood. 70k acre feet is a lot of water.

I drove ~1300 weather perfect miles since Thursday, except for a 10 mile stretch around Stanton. Brutal sideways rain and hail with high winds, low visibility and pucker factor at 8.5/10.

West Texas... Maybe Always late to the party, but it gets there eventually.

So is every lake full now? Seems like there were a few in West Texas and the Panhandle low still a few months ago.

Has there ever in the history of Texas been a time that all lakes were releasing?

Funny thing about that reservoir is the land selected for it does not have a clay pan and will not hold water. Will probably lay half empty 90% of the time.

Lake Ivie near Ballenger was at 14% or so last week. Lake Spence near Bronte/Robert Lee was around 10%. Lake Meredith north of Amarillo is around 26%. For various reasons, I can't see any of these 3 ever filling up. God help us if they do.

Water is now flowing over the spillway at Lake Cisco for the first time ever since the dam was built in 1923.

I would have to see the geotechs. I have never seen a bore on any project on the coast that does not have clay at some point. The key is what depth and whether there are sand veins that allow water to flow above.

Slurry walls can mitigate that for a relatively small cost.

Interesting factoid. How explained?

Meredith is up to 26%, that means that it's filled up 1/4 in a year. Last year it was at 0%.

The rain coming this week is scary. Upper portions of the watershed flooding will only be worse when it reaches the choke points like Richmond.

I've seen that spillway towering above water level 100s of times. Can't imagine what that looks like.

Look for my thread about JB Thomas. Went from dry to 75% in a week. And we in the west and Northwest have missed the big rains.

It's sort of common knowledge in the area that water has never flowed over the spillway or at least that's what I've always heard but it's been going over for a few days now.

Also, Hubbard Creek Resevior should reach full pool sometime this morning. It's been a long road back for that lake.

With Hondo Creek and the Frio flowing now, 3-4 inches of rain around Concan/Utopia would do a world of good.
BoerneGator

Not doubting your word. Just don't understand how/why that is the case. Seems to reason that at some point over that span of time more than one flood would take place in that watershed. Just wondering?
