I'm officially postponing my trip to Bryan till all the flooding clears.

Two of my co-workers that live in The Woodlands couldn't make it home last night. Thankfully they had family they could stay with that were closer to the office last night.

45 looks like a cluster**** between The Woodlands and Conroe. ****.
. Stuck in this crap now. Dad's asking about other routes, mom's back and forth between arguing with him and looking at Google maps...

Edit... the programmable sign we just post said there's water on 45 on the north side of Conroe. Probably around 336.

One rancher told us while we were helping neighbors move cattle that one of the ranches in Hempstead had over 500 head go into the river.

45 is closed both directions at 1097.

Livingston is releasing close to 75k cfs from their dam. Yesterday it was lower than 21k. Unbelievable how much water is associated with this system. The Woodlands is apparently taking it like a prison shower raping.

Spent the last 2 days in College Station at my daughters new student conference (Class of 2020 - Whoop).

I tried to come home back to Houston last night and spent 3hrs on Hwy 6 South of Navasota before giving up and going back to CS.

Left CS around 2pm today and wow... must have been a 5 mile wide path of destruction South of Navasota. Tons of big trees snapped in half, large buildings and a couole of houses pretty much destroyed and supposedly reports of 4 - 18 wheelers overturned.

Looks like 290 is closed, 59N appears to be closed north of Clevland. I made it home taking 359 to I10.

The rain and flooding around CS yesterday was nuts and it is happening again today.

For anyone thinking about traveling today (especially North)... don't do it. It is bad out there... stay safe.

There were some CRAZY straight line winds on a east-west line just south of Navasota, that ran just south of Dobbin.

Crazy winds...obviously over 100MPH to cause that kind of damage.

So I finished my new student conference and made it home to Houston the day before Tropical Storm Allison decided to flood the city.

Just came down 6S and saw the same damage. Saw a semi-trailer torn in half down its length. 290 to Houston is open but it's a parking lot.

How's 290 north from 2920 to 6 looking and then how's 6 looking all the way to college station? I think I can get out of tomball now

I'd take a drought over this. I can manage a drought. I can't manage a corn field that has received 45 inches of rainfall since March.

Haven't made it to 2920 yet but 290 going back towards 6 looks fine. 6 back to CS also looks fine, no traffic from I saw.

I've always been curious about this. I ran a combine in HS and always wondered what too much rain did to a crop.

There's a reason there is a such thing as crop insurance haven't heard of drought insurance so I'll take the rain all day every day to refill all of the aquifers around our state

Agreed. You might be able to manage a drought, but the rest of the state can't.

It's called rainfall insurance. And it exists.

Farm Service Agency subsidizes drought insurance for rangeland and cropland. The rainfall indices used to pay out were developed at A&M.

So my 80 year old mom and stepdad are leaving, or hope they are leaving Houston for Ft Worth at 6am tomorrow morning.

I know there are problems on 290 and 6. Is 45 clear?

No more 290 or 6 problems anywhere. I just got back to college station. No water on either highway but the creeks are all just below the bridges do it didn't clear too long before I went through.

My journey to 290 from tomball was interesting. I went through very high water at 2920 and Bauer and then met some more really high water on 2920 in between Hegar and Kickapoo. Most were turning around some were going through. I saw a F-350 go through with a gooseneck and he was sliding off the road and into the ditch and I heard that ole boy hammer it and he swam his way out and then I said no way in hell and turned around and took a couple roads to get to Kickapoo then went Kickapoo to 290 and went south because of flooded entrance and then turned around at kermier and got on and no more water from there on out.

I missed a small window of opportunity earlier this week, but I really need to get into Houston to take some field notes for work. I only need about a 1 1/2 days and am hoping I can do it this weekend because I won't be able to go at all next week. I'll be working in Missouri City and inside the beltway between I-10 and 290. It looks like Houston is getting hammered again right now...I can deal with light, intermittent rain, but if it's any more than that, I won't be able to do what I need to do.

Forecast says 20% chance of rain for both days...is it even worth attempting to go down there this weekend with the forecast and all of the rain that Houston has had?

BTW, I live in Georgetown and can go 290 or I-10.

TIA

Brazos at the hwy 105 bridge is about a foot below the top of the cut bank. Highest I've ever seen there. Lake Conroe is flooding boathouses and about 3 feet from many front doors of waterfront homes. Papas on the lake's first level is at the waterline.
