I have driven by Forsan a few hundred times on 87 and never once stopped. Same with Ackerly.

This storm had my elderly mom sitting by a storm cellar door I doubt she could even lift. Too close for comfort.

I read that report and my first thought was "a house...or the house in Forsan"? Thanks for not making me go there alone...

Sorry if "too soon". Humor, even bad humor, is how one deals with tragedy.

Sorry about your mom. When my folks remodeled their house a decade ago, we tried really hard to get them to install a safe room at floor level. They didn't do it, but years later, mentioned how they wished they had.

Parents have a hard time taking advice from their kids.

I had to reframe from making my standard joke of a storm doing a million dollars worth of improvements.

Old parents are stubborn people. You speak the truth here. I think old parents from west Texas may be a tad more ornery.

I drive through Ackerly three or four times a week.

Huge storm cell just passed south and east of us in Lubbock yesterday evening. I want rain, but not that kind of stuff. The dirt wall half a mile or more tall was impressive to a guy who grew up in South Texas.

Dodge City tonight is wild. A dozen tornadoes. One of which was huge.

My imgur is giving me fits. A quick Google should do.

Up in the panhandle for work. Actually saw reed driving around earlier today in his destroyer or whatever they call that thing. And some national storm chasers are staying at my hotel. Definitely made me uneasy when I checked in.

I saw a borderline EF-1ish tornado from prolly 5 miles away at Olsen Field in about 1990. That was plenty close enough.

I remember seeing that one out the window of Sbisa. Pretty exciting afternoon.

Yeahhhh....there is not enough "NOPE!" to accurately quantify how much NOPE! on being within eyesight of that thing.

Bryan just had a tornado touch down, and a pretty good toad floater. Passed right over the office and dropped down a mile or so away.

We've had some very intriguing weather this week in Kansas. Outside of hunting related activities, this time of year in the central plains is honestly my favorite, most exhilarating time of year. I say that knowing full well the damage and destruction they can cause, and I don't with that upon anyway. But the raw power of nature is just truly breathtaking. Indescribable. I've been known to be pretty bad about getting in the truck in the central and western part of the state to go and take a look at them but I've only accidentally "caught" one. A couple of miles distant is plenty close for me.

I had to go to Salina for work yesterday. On the way back that means I came through Solomon, Chapman, and Abilene.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, 20 minutes behind me came:

That tornado clipped a portion of the small town of Solomon damaging about 25 houses. On the news report the Highway Patrol reported minor damage up to, "well, some ...are no longer in existence." Amazingly it appears that less than 10 people were injured and those were all minor.

Khou Houston was really leaning hard towards a radar indicated tornado near Washington moving East. Very strong rotation indicated and radar showing strong reflections under the area of rotation well ahead of the strong rain.

The one in Bryan came out of nowhere. Not even a watch until it was on the ground.

Yeah, I heard kbtx say that during one of their FB live broadcasts. Is driving into Houston but listening. My grandmother lives outside Flynn, just NE of Normangee. So that storm was of great interest to me!

House got hit by lighting last night in McAllen, I wasn't there but the apparently half the electrical got blown, phones and internet were fried and there are two holes in the roof now. Rained quite a bit in areas of the RGV.

My sister lives there. Said roads to CSs were impassable. She's still stuck at work with a student because her parents can't get out of their neighborhood and my sister isn't sure she can get home at this point anyways

We were planning on going to Galveston this evening. Got to BCS and there was no way through. Every road is flooded. Ended up getting a hotel here and will make the rest of the drive in the morning.

Not a bad place to be stranded for a night. About to go have a few cold beers now.
