Upstream neighbor lost 30 head tonight. Don't forget to pray tonight for those that live in the low lands. I'll lose 10 head of cattle any day over a life of a human.

KXAN reporting they've discovered the body of a young boy along the bank. Completely breaks my heart.

Upstream near Sealy someone had 30 head of cattle choose the river over the trailer and they were swept downstream.

Things got Western in the Panhandle this evening. Four confirmed tornadoes in this storm. This one was the biggest.


3 guys on a drilling rig 3 miles N of Canadian injured by this tornado. That area had baseball sized hail and 8 inches of rain. Was quite the storm to watch. Lots of power.

Hwy 259 bridge and Hwy 8 bridge over the Red River closed today due to the approaches on the Texas sides flooding. Expected to crest tomorrow at 34.3 ft. Record is 36 ft.

The family where the kids and wife are missing, their dog has been found stuck in a tree, but safe. My exwife is friends with all three families. She posted a GOFUNDME account to cover costs from the hospital stay, to hiring helicopters for the search. They admit this is no longer a search and rescue, but now is search and recover. I don't blame them though, I would never rest until my kids were found, one way or the other.

there were a lot of police helicopters and private copters flying over us as we were doing some cleanup on the river today. lots of searching.

Our hearts go out to them.

No one is catching a break this week. Richmond forecast just got updated. Neighbor told us Somerville is 18 inches from overflowing down stream.

Julie Shields (Zach's wife) said she was on the phone with her sister, Laura, when their cabin was swept away.

It can be as simple as volunteering to help the residents or city clean which they will be asking for volunteers later today and into this weekend.

I will be at the Hays Food Bank on Saturday to take in donations and just help out in general. Others will be in Wimberly on Saturday handing food out and Sunday in San Marcos. Go to haysfoodbank.org to get information or call to help.

This will be an ongoing process for months with the cleanup and repairs..

I think they found her and the son. I can't imagine the horror the surviving dad/father feels right now.

Gosh I am praying for him. I cant imagine losing my wide and kids.

Before hearing about this story with all the flooding it would sound crazy to keep life vests in a car.
Maybe if flooding is imminent it is not a bad idea.

I understand the thought, but the danger from floodwater is less about staying afloat, and more about surviving the incredible power of the water flow and battering from debris in the water.

So much for that projected high. I'll have some videos and pics from yesterday (when it was about 44.5 ft) up later, gotta process them.

In raging flood waters, a life jacket won't help. The debris is still going to pummel you.

It may not help, but it is certainly not going to hurt either.
