Growing up in West Texas (now in Houston) always makes me appreciate any amount of rain, regardless of where I live. But I'm starting to miss the sun at this point.

I would gladly have taken some of y'all's rain. My house has received just over 1 inch since Friday. The clay is pulled over an inch away from my foundation, my fence is leaning for the same reason, and yard and trees are trying to die. I don't have time to drag a sprinkler around an acre a couple of times a week to keep up.
Most of the other miles of coastline have gotten rain as well.Cromagnum said:schmellba99 said:
No, its not. Ask Beaumont.
I'm not, asking looking at the other 100s of miles of coastline, south Texas, and the Hill country especially which didn't get Jack.
from where do you get your bitterness? Dead end job? Cheating wife? Hangover? Anal fissures? Erectile dysfunction?schmellba99 said:Most of the other miles of coastline have gotten rain as well.Cromagnum said:schmellba99 said:

And sorry, but the hill country isn't known for it's lush rain forest ecosystem due to all of the annual rainfall it gets. It's a friggin quasi-desert area, has been for a few thousand years at least.
South Texas is getting hit pretty hard in some areas now, more than one farmer is not benefiting due to the amount of rain. As another poster said, rain is not always a blessing. Especially when it comes like this and thousands of people are yet again forced from their homes due to flooding. Even more so when the ground is already oversaturated due to the wet weather that's been prevalent over the last few years.
But hey, your yard needs to be green because you don't want to water it, guess that is more important than anything.

Quit complaining. We only got 0.2 inches just southeast of New Braunfels and we have inch wide cracks running all through the ground already. Minus the 6 inch downpour in March (that mostly left as runoff) we've had less than 3 inches of rain since about early February
I'm in Victoria in Castle Hills, directly behind the big HEB and we have gotten right at 8+" since this rain event started. Cut the grass and aerated Monday afternoon, great timing for a change....Seven said:
Ended up with .5-1.5" yesterday, 2.5" over night. Refugio reporting 6" in sports. More to come all day
I don't remember Gilbert being bad. The flood of 91 was bad.Walter Kovacs said:
**** is crazy in the valley. I've been getting texts and facebook updates from friends and family from Weslaco to Brownsville. A friend in Weslaco has 2 feet of water in her house. Harlingen has more street closures than I've ever seen. More than any hurricane I've seen since Gilbert. My parents have been in the same house since 1988 and they have water coming up the driveway. That's happened maybe twice since they moved in.
