Help me out guys. We are trying to plan a bachelor party for my buddy in Venice before his September wedding. Thinking about a trip from Wed/Thur to Sunday. One day do a offshore trip and focus on tuna and another to fish inshore and get on some reds and trout.

Where do we stay for this? what charter do we use? when is the best time to go?

We have a group of 6 that will get extremely drunk and loud at night so we don't really want to stay at one of the marinas with having neighbors that may hate us.

Any suggestions will help.

Oh and we decided we probably shouldn't stay in NOLA either.... that would be a bad decision

Stay in New Orleans. Fish inshore for trout & reds out of Silverside Lodge in Hopedale. It's only 45 minutes from the Quarter.

Can't help with offshore or Venice.

Or you can drive over to Lake Charles, stay at Hackberry & fish the next day or 2. Then drive 30 minutes to L'auberge to gamble, booze, party at their pool, hit up the Plantation, and then play golf or just hang out at the pool the next day.

No kidding.

I just ignored that statement. Starting off the party with a big bag of fail already.

I've only ever drove to Venice and I don't know if you've ever been that way, but there isn't a whole lot in that part of the world. Your closest hotels are going to be in Belle Chasse, unless there's a turnaround going on at that time in the refineries because they'll all be full if you wait to long. I worked there over December and January and there wasn't many options as far as housing. If you can stay at the marinas, do that until you get kicked out and then stay in NOLA. It is kind of a drive from NOLA to Venice though, probably an hour and half if I remember right.

The marinas aren't bad and Cypress Cove has a bar next door. The only option to be alone would probably be lighthouse louies has some cabins for rent I believe you could also take a travel trailer. Take your own alcohol. I have a friend who's dad does inshore guiding down there and could put you in touch with him if you need a contact.

Check out VRBO.com for places to stay. Should be able to find a house of some sort to stay in that will fit your needs.

I'd definitely recommend you consider Lake Calcasieu. Could stay at a fishing lodge for 1-2 nights and then hit up the casino 1 night. Golden Nugget just opened there too. I know that L'Auberge has a golf course and nice pool. Great trout and redfish area. And a significantly shorter drive, if you are coming from Houston.

I stayed in a 16ish person house with a vendor. You dont have to fill up the whole house either. We were there with another group. They have nothing to do with the fishing part of it but its about 15 minutes from the marina in Venice. They cook an amazing breakfast, pack your lunch for fishing, and a truly unbelievable supper. Free beer and wine the whole time as well.

PM me if you are interested in the name, I will haveto go home and find the name for you.

We went tuna fishing with Paradise Outfitters. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We caught quite a few tuna but our tuna trip was "ruined", because 3 hours were taken away when I hooked and landed a Marlin. I didnt mind

Like I said, PM me for more info.

And to the guys saying to stay in New Orleans...that would be nearly impossible. Most of the fishing trips are sunrise to sunset and its at least an hour and fifteen minute drive to the marina. That would be stupid to try and do both. Maybe a trip to New Orleans and one fishing trip would work. But if the goal of your trip is for it to be a fishing trip, that would be a dumb decision.

I was just down there a bachelor party two weekends ago. We fished out of Empire (a little north of Venice). There were nine of us. We used out Outcast Fishing Charters. It ended up costing about $500/man. That included lodging, three meals a day (all prepared by a lady named Roe, who can flat out cook) and one day of fishing. Three guys a boat + guide. We stayed in the house owned by the fishing charter. The place is pretty secluded, and you can't get as drunk, loud and rowdy as you want! The place had a large back patio and pool table. Everyone had a great time, and we all brought back limits of reds.

That's why I said to fish out of Hopedale, not Venice.

It's 45 minutes from the Hotel Monteleone in the Quarter to Breton Sound Marina in Hopedale.
