Any body got a suggestion

Custom, handmade in Amarillo. I have 2 pair of the cowboy boots. My husband has 2 pair of cowboy boots and 1 pair of the lace-ups.

Thorogood by Weinbrenner USA. Buy direct from manufacturer or many places online. A lot of the safety shoe suppliers carry them as well.

I've had the soles on my Redwings replaced more than once. If you want a good boot that can be rebuilt, look at White's or Wesco's. Hawthorne makes a good boot also. White's owns Hawthorne and is their economy line. All three make boots to the dimensions of your feet. Hawthorne's will be in the high $200 range while the others will be pushing $400 or better. Danner's used to be a well made boot. Some of their boots are still pretty good, but for a little more money you can get boots made for your feet, your choice of soles, lacing style, etc.

Not trying to derail the thread, but I have a question about custom boots.

I have a leg length discrepancy (right leg is about 5/8" shorter than left) and some lumbar scoliosis. The outside of my heels wear off quickly and as soon as it does I have to discard the shoes or suffer some serious back spasms.

Current strategy has been a heel pad insert and discarding the shoes for a new pair every 3-5 weeks. I've found New Balance cross trainers to be the most economical choice but still think it's a waste of $$$.

Question to anybody remotely familiar with custom boots - is this a situation where the heels on custom boots might last longer? Seems that if I could get 2 or 3 months between heel changes that it would be a better long term solution.

There's a boot shop in Portland, Oregon that makes custom orthopedic hiking boots. They specialize in boots for people who've had injuries that have had their feet deformed somewhat. I forget their name but you could probably find it on the web. Call White's or Wesco's and see if they can make a boot for you. Also, they make shoes as well.

I had a pair of Danners but found the soul to be a little stiff for my circumstances (I have high arches and occasional bouts with plantar fasciitis). I replaced them with Merrell lace ups which have worked a lot better for me. I really liked the Danners and they were really well made. They just didn't work for me.

Agent-
I know Beck's can do different heel heights on the right and left. Additionally, they mail you a fit kit with a mold that you step in (imprints each foot) to get a truly customized fit. Call and ask to speak to Jeremy and describe what you need. I bet he can fix you up.

I remember on a pair of basic run of the mill Justins, I took them into get new heel pads and the new ones also had a harder insert on the outside. I too wear down the outside edges since I'm bowlegged.

Red Wings for me. Bought my first pair of daily wears in 2008 resoled once and I just retired them a month ago. Replaced with same model, and a second pair of Irish Setter no scent hunting boots.

Free lace replacement, oiled and eyelets turned. 60 bucks for resole with about 1-2 week turnaround from factory.
