Anyone else hitting the bay, beach, or lake this weekend? Looks to be absolutely perfect conditions, low wind and nice temps, especially Saturday.

I'm probably launching my kayak at Fort Anahuac tomorrow, hoping for some reds and trout in the pocket early, then moving to the Trinity River channel to try for some flounder. Unfortunately tidal movement looks to be weak until late afternoon.

Sunday I may head up to Houston County Lake in hope of some bass in the coves and on the docks.

Windguru says winds will be excellent. Still calling for 2-3 footers @ jetties here but that doesn't have to be off by much to be 1' (good) or 4' (no, not doing it). I HATE fishing Saturdays... But 0 wind has me thinking....

Winds look good. Tide falling until 10. Short day, I'm ready.

Pretty good morning in Matagorda. Highlight was putting a 27in 7 pound speck in the boat

Fort Anahuac was dink city. Caught 12 trout, only 2 keeper size. Best action was on topwater. Flounder weren't biting. The birds were working at first light until about 15 minutes after sunrise, but then everything shut down.

On to some bass fishing tomorrow!

Matagorda. 10 keeper trout this am w/ 3 ppl on boat . Sorted through plenty of undersized trout and reds. Went back out this evening and found plenty of 14.5" trout over scattered shell. Fish tacos on the menu this week and you couldn't have asked for better weather today, absolutely beautiful!

Fished bolivar surf on Friday from 6 to 11ish and caught only sand trout gafftop and whiting. Hooked up to something big and after 10 minutes of fighting it busted my line. Didn't get a freaking bit after that. Fished jetties on sat. Water was pretty but didn't get a bite.

Most crowded I've ever seen. Waders, kayakers, and powerboats galore. The nice weather had everyone on the water.

Bass fishing on Houston County Lake today started off with disappointment and never recovered. Lost a 5-6 pounder on a buzzbait right after launching. She wrapped me up in some underwater stumps and came unbuttoned. I spent the rest of the day hammering the docks with spinnerbait, jig, and T-rig. Caught a few smaller spotted bass, but I think most of the largemouth are still deep. I found some shad balls on my fishfinder out in 25 feet of water. Need another cold front for better shallow action.

Christmas Bay was crowded as hell on Saturday. There was a weird NE wind, but I was able to pick up a couple slot reds on the fly, and a few good size flounder bouncing a paddle tail.

Flounder were all over the place. I saw a flattie jump clear out of the water maybe a dozen times chasing bait. I had never seen that before.

Hung one oversized red (released, of course). Other than that it was pretty dead. The current was still ripping out of the channels after the bays filled up last week due to the tropical disturbance down south.

Lots of trout, plenty of keeper fish and some 22"-26" on the Seabrook flats right now. Been there for a few weeks. Key on pods of mullet in 4-5 ft. and structure down towards Pine Gully. Haven't been able to get a consistent topwater bite going but doing real well with Provokers, Little John XL's, and Norton Sand Eels. Good kayak access (I've been in boat) and none of the bird chasing rat race. Still gotta deal with weekend potlickers though.
