Saw this guy cruising through my backyard this morning. It appeared to be a baby. Only about 8 inches long.

It's a baby Racer (Coluber constrictor), subspecies dependent on where you live in the state.

Yeah, I'm going to go with 12f on this one. juvenile racer is pretty spot on with the pattern washout on the tail. Plus, he tends to be correct on all of his snake IDs.

I try, but I'm not as good. (sad me)

It's called a yellow bellied racer.

The adults look nothing like that. It's a juvenile.

A few years ago I saw two of those mating on my property. It was pretty cool but when they spotted me they were off to the races.
