How long do you want to ignore this user?
anyone have any ideas on how to keep their numbers down? my office in Fort Bend county is full of them--little ones that leave dead pillbugs everywhere.

I've sprayed the place--no roaches, no other insects but pillbugs and spiders. any ideas short of setting the place on fire would be appreciated.

I used to get that same situation in my shop. I now spray Bayer insecticide (the 1 gal. blue container you can find at any Lowe's or H.D.) around the entrances and baseboards about once a month, and use two bug-bombs about once a season (except winter). Works pretty well for me......

thanks, Cal. I'll try that.

Spiders, unlike insects, do not put their feet in their mouths so most insecticides are ineffective unless you spray directly on the spider. Most effective control is a broom.

Dad always said Mom is like a fly, annoying and always putting her foot in her mouth...

What are you spraying with?

I've used a couple different products, Demon and Suspend, at my house and we haven't seen any spiders, roaches, ants, etc. in a very long time.

I buy from http://store.doyourownpestcontrol.com/ or Amazon depending on who's cheapest that day.

I've had good results using Demon WP (I think that's the name of it) that you dissolve in water and then spray up along the edge of the ceiling.

From what I remember, it dehydrates the spiders through their "skin" since they don't actually consume it.

Hope this helps.

We have a regular exterminator for our house, and have NO bug issues of any kind.

However, I handle our fish camp in Seadrift/POC, and our deer lease, which have problems with spiders and scorpions.

I have excellent luck with Demon WP. It comes in packs with 4 pouches (TSC). Use two of the packs in one gallon of water. It works, period.

When we spray our deer blinds three weeks prior to season, the week before season you can go clean out the scorps and spiders by the numbers.

However, with scorps, be cautious of dead looking ones. More than once, I've seen them look plenty dead until touched by a broom. Then they magically come alive. Pissed.

One ounce of TempoSC in a 1 gallon sprayer, spray the baseboards in the entire house, and spray under and behind furniture. Goodbye spiders for a year or so. I spray my porches, slab, and walls of my garage too.

I live on lake LBJ and spiders are terrible near the water. After trying several different applications, I've settled in on Neem Oil. Mixed per instructions in water and applied with a Hudson sprayer. It's organic and can be used in the garden also. Works well.

I used Regent in the office which kills just about everything. But, as someone pointed out, you almost have to directly spray the spider for it to work.

Anyhow, great ideas. I'm going to try some of these.

I have no idea how to keep the pillbugs out...that would help a lot. I don't know where they are coming in or why. Everything is sealed up pretty well from the outside.

Anyhow, thanks again.

Ok, I have a wrench to throw in the works here.

I also could use some advice on handling spiders indoors, as well as ants, in our rent house.

The challenge is that I have twin one year boys who crawl, walk, play, and generally scoot across the floors and bump up against walls/baseboards etc.
(And they will try and eat anything the find on the floor.)

Is there a product non-toxic to humans that I can spray inside and not worry about it getting on their hands, then hand-mouth, hand-eyes, etc?

Does nobody use regular pest control?

I have two young boys and we have the house sprayed quarterly...no bugs. Everything used by commercial applicators is completely safe for kids. I live out in the sticks and we would be covered in black widows and recluses and bugs without the service. $60 four times a year is cheap insurance for your kids safety.

We just bought a house & found termites in the freaking tile floor (wtf I know). ABC pest control has come out & treated the entire house inside & outside. I asked about safety in being around what they use to spray since I am pregnant & they said the stuff they use is safe to be around for children, pets & pregnant chicks. I hope that it is effective, guess time will tell.

They also didn't charge $2000 like Orkin wanted to charge.

Demon works.

I tried a bunch of different products on our dock, but the next week it would be covered in spiders again.

Demon wipes them out for weeks.

Contact MrJonMan on the Houston board. He's an exterminator and entomologist. We use him at work. Never have bug/spidy issues.
