I have opportunity to get on a lease in between Sterling City and Robert Lee and had heard that the years of 2010-2011 were bad for bagging a good deer and was wondering what I can expect to see now. The lease will be protein fed with the emphasis on only shooting mature bucks.

Those years were bad for just about everybody, particularly 2011.

Unless they had a significant die off, I wouldn't be real concerned with the quality of deer those years.

Hunt out there every year. Be prepared for high winds, some cold ass mornings, long shots, but beautiful country and lots of deer.

about half way not sure of the exact rd. going on a best friend's info that called w/ a last min opening. But he an I have been best friends since grade school back in the mid '70s, how many people can say that and we have been hunting alot thru the years, so I'm not worried. was just wondering from other people in the area.

Hunted out there between Angelo and Robert Lee From 1978 to 1999. Beautiful country. Lots of memories as a kid and thru college.

My Dad and 5 guys who worked for GTE in Angelo had the place. 100 dollars a gun a season.

Seems like the rut was a little late this year. They were going strong right at thanksgiving. Usually it is sooner and then the does do another cycle about 45 days later that ends up being around Christmas.

Photo period and herd demographics. The better the age structure the more defined the rut will be. That area should "peak" around late November.

I've killed quite a few good deer in between RL and Colorado City in the buzzing Metropolis of Silver, TX. Even in the last couple of years.
