If you crossbreed a coyote with a chupacabra they can get that big.....

I just responded that coyotes here are typically 25-40# while a German Shepherd is usually 80# or so.

We'll see.

I wish my wife estimated size like your neighbor.

The single biggest coyote I've ever seen was a very healthy and well fed one just north of the White Tank mountains outside of PHX. He may have gone 50-55 lbs. Maybe. It's hard to tell with coyotes sometimes because their fur is deceptive. But this guy was big, and well fed and that made it that much harder to really gauge him.

The little ones running around my hood, which generally are in good shape, are 25 lbs or so on average. A couple of good sized ones, a couple of smaller ones. The pack on the other side of the neighborhood is the same way - long and lean dogs that still have a pretty thick winter coat.

Everyone seems to think they are bigger than they are, after you've skinned a few you realize there's not much to em, don't think I've ever seen one break 30-35 lbs.

i remember reading an article several years ago discussing how coyotes up in wyoming were significantly larger than coyotes that were found in other areas. They determined that since wolves hadn't been introduced to the area as of that time, they were actually able to become much larger. However, after the reintroduction of wolves, the size of the coyotes found up there dwindled

Ironically, I was doing a workshop on carnivores for the wildlife students at TAMU-Commerece today. Specifically I was speaking on coyotes. Collin and Denton County folks really like to overestimate coyotes, a lot. Apparently they run 50-55 lbs up there.

She didn't respond to that.

I also posted the below pic and asked them to guess. Most people were guessing 75-80 pounds and the dude who posted it on Texas Hunting Forums said it went 41 pounds.

21-44 is the general range, so it may well be a good one.

What general area are you in?

I can't imagine a 100 pound coyote.

The coyotes around here aren't all that big.

east texas coyotes are usually 30-40 lbs id say.

Guys guys guys..... Chupacabras only grow to 19.8 lbs and that is a fact

Those Summerwood forums were gold when that area was first built. The soccer moms were furious that they would spend a ton of money on landscaping, and then to wake up to it being demolished by the deer and hogs. I remember some being so naive to think teenagers were doing it for fun, not animals.

While we're talking about big coyotes, my brother sent me this pic about a few weeks ago. It was killed around Grimes/Montgomery County and weighed in at 42.10 lbs...

Which matchs well with the high of the Texas normal weight range.
