I am in the market for an M1A and I came across several listings for SAR 3 and SAR 8 rifles. They are clones of the HK 91 I believe? From what I have read so far the Greek made SAR 3 is a better version than the aluminum SAR 8, but how do they stack up to other semi auto .308s? ie AR10, M1A etc? I'm asking about durability, accuracy out to 300, easy to find parts/mags, accessory/scope compatability.

I have no experience with any of those other rifles but do have an M1A. It is an excellent platform that has been extremely reliable for me. If you want to be driving tacks with one, I would recommend getting an upgraded model with stainless steel barrel and glass bedded stock. Mine is plenty accurate, but could group just a little bit better (and I admit that most of that is probably my shooting skills, which are just average when it comes to long distance shooting)

Something to consider with the M1A is the length and weight. I own one and it is my hunting rifle. I love it but it is heavy and long. Things to consider depending on if you will hunt with it and how/where you hunt.

I have a DA arms, bit on the heat side but has a folding bipod built in. Always wanted a Springfield M1A. I guess a trip to the gun store is in order.
