Posted this on the travel board but the outdoor board sometimes seems more knowledgeable.

Anyone know of the closest place to do white water rafting to BCS? Would like something that is drive able and can do over a long weekend. Can be Texas or another state. Thanks for the help

What level rapids are you wanting to get into? Most of the "whitewater" in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas is ridiculously tame. Colorado is the closest I know of, and the Royal Gorge trip is cool, as is the "Numbers" course, which is part of the same river.

The 'lower canyons': White water, Class 4, hotsprings and arch sites...Lower canyons is the other bend after Big Bend...the bend that bends the other way...it's a long day's drive but heaven on Earth. I can possibly hook you up with the best guide of that area in the world.
