Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Almost done with the upgrades. I started shooting 3-gun about two months ago, so I've made some changes that I think will help. The rifle started out as a bone stock RRA Entry Tactical. To date, I've added a Surfire muzzle brake, Yankee Hill clamp on low-profile gas block, 11" Samson Mfg handguard, CMC 3.5lb single stage trigger, Magpul BAD lever, BCM VLTOR charging handle, and a H3 buffer. I haven't had a chance to shoot it since I've added all the stuff, but hopefully that changes tomorrow. The scope is a Burris MTAC 1.5-6x-42mm with a Burris PEPR mount. The gun is a little on the heavy side thanks to the scope and the R-4 profiled barrel.

I probably could have sold the gun in its stock configuration and bought a competition ready gun for about the same price as it cost me in parts, but it sure was fun working on the rifle. Now I understand why so many of y'all have built your own, rather than just buying one.

The only things I'm thinking about changing are the trigger pins to KNS Precision and upgrading the butt stock to one that has a cheek weld.

Where are you shooting 3 gun? I really need to get out to one of these one time, I'm just afraid that if I do I'll be hooked! I agree with you on building the rifle yourself, I did the same thing with mine.

Looks sharp, bring it next time you're down and we'll head to the range.

Agbass, I shoot with Texas Multigun out of Best of the West in Liberty Hill. Matches are every 3rd Saturday and there are a few other AG's out there. It's been a lot of fun, but pretty expensive. The biggest barriers to entry are having all the guns and having the gear needed to compete. I think I spent about $400 on a belt, holster, pistol/rifle mag pouch holsters and shotgun shell holders. That being said, you can compete with 2-gun, you just shoot more pistol since you won't be using a shotgun. If you do 2-gun, a gun belt rig will run about $300.

I'm sure you can do it cheaper, but I didn't want to spend the time to search for the cheapest prices, because you'd probably end up paying the same since you'd be paying for shipping from multiple websites. The next match is July 20th, and you're more than welcome to come and watch. www.texasmultigun.com

EFE, the Bonds' and I are toying around with going down there in August to do some fishing, we'll let you know if we do.

Cool, I have a buddy that owns Capital Area Shooting and they do 3 gun matches out there at best of the west as well but they do them on Sundays.
