I just inherited a nice (older) Browning Pro Steel safe. What have y'all done to mount the dehumidifier bar? Initial thoughts were doing it on the door. I would love some suggestions.

The packaging on the one I just purchased says to mount it as low as possible in the safe. Mounted mine on the floor.

Some safes allow you to run an extension cord into the safe, and some guys do this to power their electric dehumidifiers, such as the Remingtons. Would you recommend? I do not feel comfortable doing that.

Thanks letterman. Did you drill a hole for the cord? The only hole I've found is on top, which isn't convenient for mounting it low. I was thinking about running my cord out the bottom of the door. It pinches it, but does not sever it. Also, when I plug mine in it makes no noise and doesn't get noticeably warm. Should I just get a new one or is this normal?

My browning safe came with a hole in the back for power. I could use it for a dehumidifier, but I went with one of the cordless units from Eva-Dry. Unless the need for power in there is a new feature, you might check on the back. I've been pleased though so far with the cordless unit. It has a plug that folds into the base so you can plug it in to recharge it as needed.

My Liberty already had an outlet in the safe. Just plugged it into the wall and then connected the dehumidifier. It heats up the inside of the safe very slightly to get rid of the humidity. Hot air rises therefore the recommendation to mount it as low as possible. Mine heats up enough that you can definitely tell it s on. Uncomfortable to the touch. Ordered mine from deansafe.com

Definitely needs to be mounted on the floor. Mine has a power outlet. If you have a hole in the top just run the cord through it. Use an extent ion cord if needed.
