Get over yourself. The thread is about value, and they're addressing what they perceive to be the value of USAA.

Plus, just becasue they're an employee doesn't mean they need to come defend their company on an anonymous message board. Lot's of employees wouldn't speak up about the value of their company, so it's still telling. Is everyone that truly believes their company has something of value to offer nothing more than a "company shill"?

no one is saying USAA isn't a good value, just that it isn't as good of a value as it used to be.

And by the way, yes, some implied USAA isn't a good value. The discussion wasn't only about value of USAA compared to what it used to be. In fact, the OP has nothing to do with USAA's value historically compared to itself, but its value compared to another company. If you want to get technical about it, discussing USAA's value historically is off topic and not addressing the point of the thread.

I dont know much about what USAA was like in the old days since I joined just last year.

But my auto insurance for both my wife and my vehicles is now significantly less than what I was paying State Farm for just mine.

Their banking is also much better than when I was with Wells Fargo. Better rates and customer service has been excellent.

This is also where my biggest praise comes from. I have several insurance policies through USAA, but just last year switched my banking over. It's 100X better than the crap I put up with at Bank of America. Can't believe I waited so long

Used to be with USAA. I switched banking over to Navy Fed and haven't been happier. Two auto loans, checking, savings credit cards, no hassles, actual branches and ATMs, and excellent customer service. Their fraud protection is amazing. Before a strange charge even went through they declined it and were calling/emailing within minutes. Turned out to be fraud while I was away from home in training.

Went with GEICO on auto and motorcycle insurance and they killed what I was previously paying at USAA. Took all my investments to Schwab. It was a great move for me. YMMV. Some people get better rates with USAA but they ticked me off so I switched. I've heard their homeowners rates aren't as competitive any longer either.

Yeah, the opposite was true for us - USAA beat the rates we were getting with GEICO. Each case is different, so you should always shop around.

PRICE and VALUE are two completely different animals.

Is the PRICE I pay for insurance at USAA higher than other places? Yes. Never will argue that.

Do I VALUE the SERVICE that USAA provides for the PRICE I am willing to pay? You're damn right I do. I want to know that the company I have chosen to protect my assests will be there when I need them. And every time I have needem, they have been there. No questions asked.

USAA has been there for me for almost 24 years. My parents have been members for nearly 42 years. Do I have ANY intention of leaving? No. I do not.

Been with USAA since 1969 and have nothing but high praises for their Auto Insurance. Not much praise for the home owners insurance though.

To be fair, Hennessey... you need to justify that statement. Flat out blasting a company like that without any supporting facts is terrible.

If there is a legitimate reason, explain it. Otherwise, it's just another example of "internet tough guy."

Call the Liere insurance guys that advertise on the business board. I just switched over to them in January due to the fact that they almost cut my premiums in half. Brian was easy to work with and got it done quickly.

Seem like good folks.

DO NOT DO THIS. terrible idea.

What the hell?

They're a Texags sponsor, I decided to give them a shot at the business, they did a fabulous job, so I recommended them here.

Either justify your statement or GTFO.

Stive - thank you for the referral, we certainly appreciate your business and glad that we were easy to work with.

cplstansfield -

I just want to introduce myself as Bryan Massey '02 with Liere Insurance. You may have seen us on here before as we are a forum sponsor on TexAgs and an Aggie 100 company. Anyway, I saw that you were going to shop your home and auto insurance and I wanted to let you know that is exactly what we do.

We are an independent insurance agency that represents over 100 different companies that we can shop your policies among. By being able to shop your policies through a number of different companies we are often able to find you better coverage at a savings. I would love the opportunity to speak with you and provide you a quote on your insurance needs. Please either email me with your contact information at bmassey@myliere.com or give me a call at 855-776-2300. Thanks and I will look forward to speaking with you.

20 years ago, if someone called trying to sell you insurance, all you had to say was "I am with USAA" and the agent would simply say "Thank you and I hope you have a great day

For me, this was still the case as I've shopped around over the past couple years. Satisfied with USAA here.

For me as well, I've thought about giving leire a shot but just haven't gotten around to it.

I also just switched from SF to liere based on their ads here. I will echo above that Bryan is really easy to work with and my rate with encompass was almost unbelievable. We will see about claims and service, but as most have said, shop around and compare apples to apples.

Hennessy, post some facts or edit your post, it adds nothing to a really good conversation here.

My name is Bryan Massey '02 with Liere Insurance. I know it sounds cliche' but one thing that I hear a lot from people on TexAgs is, 'I wish I would have called sooner.' I'd love to hear from you regarding your policies. We can get your information in just a few minutes over the phone and give you a call back once we have some numbers for you.

Please shoot me an email at bmassey@myliere.com or give me a call at 855-776-2300.

Mookie - thank you for your business and the kind words.

My apologies, I forgot that I had posted this because I do not frequent the OB often

This had nothing to do with Liere as a company, more with the recommendation from Stiive. Based on my the way he has operated on several other boards, I would not want to take a recommendation from him.

If you're referring to me (along with a ton of other people) giving you a hard time about being a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, then I take that as a compliment and feel very comfortable in my recommendation.

On that note: Found any new YouTube clips that implicate the US government for hurricanes Katrina and Sandy? I bet it was the same guys that lined the Twin Towers with C4 in 1969 so that 32 years later they could be collapsed.

Been with USAA since 1979 for insurance, with USAA FSB for banking since 1989. They've never given me a reason to look anywhere else.

Close minded in that I don't take a couple of YouTube clips as gospel evidence of a vast right wing conspiracy theory. Fair enough.

To the OP....sorry Hennessey derailed your thread because of his personal attack towards my post. He's shown the maturity of a junior high kid on here by slamming a board sponsor just because I recommended them. I apologize for him derailing the thread.

To Brian Massey @ Liere. Sorry your company got inadvertently slammed because of Hennessy following me around and trashing my posts just to trash them regardless of content. Keep up the good work!!! You guys have done a FABULOUS job thus far in handling my insurance. I'm glad I made the move and highly recommend others in here consider them when looking for insurance options. They've been a class act to deal with.

USAA is living off their name alone right now. i've been a member for over a decade. in that time, they've gone from the best service bank with competitive rates to average service with noncompetitive rates on everything from insurance to auto loans to house loans.
