I know there are some on here that swear by them. It also seems that people either love them or hate them. Quality, wear, etc. are they worth the extra cost? I have heard they will last you forever.

it seems that there are other brands with a similar look that are cheaper.

They are okay, I bought a pair of AB and the sole didnt even last a year before a hole started wearing. They seemed to be pretty comfortable, but are they worth the extra $$$ probably not. Just my opinion.

I don't have a pair that cost more than $200 and I have had them for a long time. You can always get them resoled and reheeled, but the leather that they use for the golves and the boots themselves is awesome. I am a fan for sure.

There are two types of AB boots. The ones made in the USA, which are anywhere from $200-$400 and the AB HP which are around $160 and are made in Mexico. The USA ones are better made but I like my AB HP boots. I've had them for 9 months and am having the soles replaced right now.

I've got three pair and really like them. They fit better than my tennis shoes. Had a to get a pair resoled after several years, but that's just normal wear and tear.

AB makes a very high quality product that is worth every penny. They have kind of an acquired comfortability, as they have no insole. Once you get used to them, they will feel as comfortable as tennis shoes. Both the Horsepower series and the regular series are great boots. I've owned pairs of both type before, and the main difference I've noticed is that the lower-end boots use steel nails to secure the sole to the midsole, whereas the higher-end boots use lemonwood pegs. These pegs are meant to swell and contract with humidity and temperature, and do not pull out. The nails have a bad habit of pulling out. AB uses great leather, and as long as you throw some saddle soap on them once every few weeks, they will last you a lifetime. This goes for the soles of leather soled boots also, many people do not realize that you are supposed to condition the soles just as you do the lowers and tops.

So, are they worth the money? Absolutely. AB uses great materials assembled by expert craftsmen, and will last a while if taken care of. When the soles do eventually wear out, there is a great little shoe shop in Bryan where you can get them resoled for a pretty reasonable price.

My name is Steven Kahla and I am the Marketing Director for Anderson Bean Boot Company and TAMU class of '02. It is great to see the compliments about our boots here in this forum. We have one adult style of Horse Power stock boots, two styles of kids boots and even a style of Baby Boots for Texas A&M fans. These styles are handcrafted in Leon, Mexico with all leather construction. This being said, several retailers do carry an American Made Anderson Bean TAMU boot that is specific to their own stock.
If you wear through leather soles quickly on a pair of our Anderson Bean boots, you may want to consider changing to a different sole like a Hybrid or Oxbow sole when you send them back to us for recrafting. An Anderson Bean boot does cost more than most that you will find on the shelves, however, we use a higher quality of materials and an AB is still handcrafted in Mercedes, Texas. We can also make custom boots with TAMU on them. TO find out more info about that please ask your local AB retailer about custom orders or if they would schedule a trunk show in the future. If you have any questions, please shoot us an email at info@andersonbean.com
Thanks and Gig'em

I have 3 pairs of Anderson Bean or Rios boots. They are great boots. The craftmanship and quality is far better than other boots. I still wear my oldest pair from time to time and they are close to 10 years old.

Steven,

Does Anderson Bean have a custom shop? A local western wear store that carries AB mentioned that they can have fitting kits that they send off for custom work. True or false?

We do offer a true custom fit for a Rios of Mercedes at the factory in Mercedes, Texas. An appointment has to be scheduled for you to come there, have your measurements taken and a custom last will be made based on your foot. This type of custom fit has a starting price of $600 for a handmade Rios of Mercedes boot.

However, you can custom design a Rios of Mercedes, Anderson Bean or Olathe boot through any of our retailers or at one of our trunk shows. The benefit of designing a boot at a trunk show is that if you have not worn our boots before, or would like to be fitted by a Company Representative trained to do so in a standard size availability (4-15 AA-EE widths) you can do so. We have many skilled retailers that can provide assistance with fitting and design for custom orders. So, in regards to a custom fit, it depends on how you define it. A true custom fit can be done in Mercedes, Texas. A correct fit can be done by a skilled retailer or a trained company representative.

I have more then one pair of AB boots and really love them. They've got great customer service too. I had a pair with the wooden pegs as mentioned earlier that started coming apart after a couple weeks so I called the number on the website and they told me to mail'em in so they could figure out was wrong. Next thing I know I got my boots back with brand new soles in no time.

soo....i need a marketing internship...can i get your coffee for you for a semester at minimum wage?

I'm actually serious and would love to contact you if you're willing to chat about it. I actually want to work and learn (would love to own my own retail boot outlet at some point), but coffee runs can be a specialty if requested.

I can also hook you up with some solid duck hunting in Rockport.

I just sent a pair of Olathe boots back to Mercedes yesterday. I recieved them about the first week of october. By mid december both heels were worn off, both toes caved in, and right sole had a hole in it. Only three months wear? I waited till after the holidays to ship them back because i used to work in the package shipping industry and know how many boxes are lost and damaged just before and after christmas.
The boots are the riding heel with cow vamp. They are the stock boots with 16 inch white tooled stovepipe tops. Really a good looking boot. Just didnt get the wear out of them that i wanted. I wrote a letter and placed in the shipping box.
Shipped USPS yesterday
I know the olathe brand is known for quality
Maybe i got a bad pair?

I've had two pair of AB's and loved em both. One pair were caiman alligator that I absolutely loved until my dog chewed one up. The other pair I still have and still wear today. I need to send them in for a re-sole however.

Hello,I just bought a pair of Anderson bean warthog boots, I usually wear a 12D. That's what I bought when I went to put them on they were very difficult to get into and the instep was way to tight, should I try a 13 or a 12EE? Thanks

I bought a pair a few years ago because I found my size 12 B. They did not last 6 months. Nails started pushing through the insole and the leather on the inside broke down. I added a new insole and wore them while my 30yo boots were repaired.

Prior to this I tried stopping in Rios because I had heard such great things and I was looking to have a pair of ostrich leg boots made, but the kid working did not want anything to do with me so I went into town and had them made.
