We have five pecan trees on the property and are trying to keep up with the harvest. My grandparents had a pecan orchard and a commercial sheller, but that is too big for this application. And so we usually used a York sheller to just have enough to eat when we wanted some, but that is too time-consuming for as many as we have.

I have seen some rigged to run off a drill press, but they use walnuts and hazelnuts for the most part to demonstrate. It looks like pecans would either get smashed or only halved with the shell intact so I do not know if I should rig one up.

So, I am trying to figure out a happy medium to shell the number of pecans we have. Does anybody have any advice?

We have a cOmmercial cracker and sheller and I tell you it's hard to get away with anything once you've used it. I'm going to watch Thai thread because I'm curious.

a dynamic nut cracker is what we have always used it has an electric solenoid that hits the nut and does a great job...

Murphy:

I am guessing that it breaks the shell, leaves the meat whole and does not require extra breaking of the shell by hand?
