I posted this in the SA board but wanted to repost here to get some other opinions.

Anyone have any experience with this, good or bad? Thinking about going there this fall since my hunting options are pretty limited. The biggest drawback I see is that I would not be able to bring any guests, as everyone must have a DOD ID card.

No idea, but I found the biggest shed I've ever seen at Panther Springs Park a couple of years ago.

I would. I remember quite a few years ago there was a pic of a huuuuge buck supposedly taken off there floating around on the Internet. Google Camp Bullis buck.

I, personally, have no experience there but there was a thread about it on TBH last week. I believe they had their draw at the time and several people were trading stories about the place.
Seems like some big deer are taken off of it each year.

There is excellent hunting out there. They work very closely with TPWD to manage their herd. I have seen some very nice deer while working out there and they have some very nice axis deer as well. The axis all seem to hang out right behind the hunting headquarters...guess they know nobody can shoot them there.

My dad used to bowhunt there. Not sure how they do it now, but back then you drew marbles for whether you could take a buck or doe (if a shot presented itself). He took a doe several years ago.

As kids he used to drive us through the public accessable areas and as mentioned above, the axis would hang out at headquarers.

The big whitetail buck mentioned earlier was killed by an employee with a knife. The buck was sick and acting as if it was blind. TPWD investigated things and despite the fact that the deer was killed by illegal means, no one was charged.
