Sitting on my grandparents carport and the flies are miserable. He hads dogs chained w/in 20yards and the pasture full of cow pies is 30 yards away. What can I do to get rid of these damn things?

I use this around my chicken coop. Works well and cheap.

I'm in Warda, TX. I won't be near a Home Depot for a week. I'm sure there is something similar in the La Grange Walmart down the road but Im not going into town soon either. These damn things are so frustrating I'm about to start trying to pick them off with a bb gun!

Try spraying around the perimeter with bleach or pinesol.

I went inside, found a fly swatter, and killed 10 of the *******s in about 90 seconds. Yes, I'm counting.

I had good luck spraying talstar d around the perimeter of the house and in the yard.

This is what we do. Been a long time since we seen a fly on our place.

How many bags do I need to hang for a 40'x30 carport?

I guess I'm gonna have to do that tomorrow. I got up to 109 before I had to leave and I think there will be just as many when I get back as when I started.

I hear they work really good for fishing, but you have to use a special line.

So does the bag thing work or are y'all pulling my leg?

The bag thing works to some extent. Something about seeing their convex reflexion on the bag scaring them off.

The supposed "science" behind the bag of water is that it refracts moving spots of light around your surroundings that flies hate so they leave.

That said, it seems extremely trailer parkish.

Get some Max Force Fly Spit Bait. Thank me later. Will provide up to 6 months of fly free environment. Buy a small packet for $12 and mix in a pint sprayer. Find a spot and spray thus stuff. Will kill fly's in 60 seconds. I use this stuff at home to keep fly's from our patio and use it in my cattle barn. There is no better fly control. Its even safe to use around schools and cafeterias.

And, if it worked at all, it would only work with sunlight. And you'd have to have a lot of them. Study done in an egg farm showed the spaces with bags of water actually had MORE flies, but that was indoors. If anyone besides mythbusters has done a real study I don't know about it. I understand the light refracting point but I do not believe a few bags would affect all the flies.
