Ok....I consider myself a pretty decent fisherman, but the brazos river hs been giving me nothing. I have tried Shrimp, worms, punch bait, lures, and minnows. Does anyone have any advice for fishing the Brazos? I've been fishing under the Hwy. 60 bridge and at the end of Batts Ferry road. Do I just need to change locations? Are there any tips for fishing during a drought? I have caught plenty of turtles and Gar, but I'd like some catfish. I typically go from 1pm to 8pm, but I went once in the morning and had some decent bites (but no landed fish) around 10am.

If you have caught anything on a rod and reel in the Brazos then you are doing better than me. When we fished the River we always used throw lines either tied to a tree branch or on a stake we pounded in the bank. We would bait up with katalpa worms, crawfish, perch, or helgramites we picked from under the rocks near Black Bridge. We caught a LOT of catfish this way.

With rod and reel, use shad or cut gaspergou, and dable it in around hangups and logjams. The cats are holed up under that, usually. You break off a lot of lines, but can find some nice cats. This usually requires some sort of boat.

There's alotta swoleness going on in the next couple pics... but my Pops and I caught these off medium/small size perch this past weekend on jug lines and throw lines.
