My next purchase will be a Hamilton with a leather strap. Then a Rolex Submariner.

Same here. I plan on buying a Khaki King with stainless bracelet so I can switch it out or a Jazzmaster. I currently alternate between a Hamilton Navy GMT with steel bracelet and a G-Shock GD100-1B.

Good prices on Movados at the San Marcos outlet mall. Might be last year's model but shouldn't matter to a collector/fan.

Has it been worked on before? The bezel/pearl and the second hand appear to not be genuine Omega parts.

I'm not sure if its been worked on. It's one of the first years and was a gift. I've taken it in to an AD to have the crystal buffed. Didn't say anything. The guy I got it from was a big collector. Are you saying someone could have replaced genuine parts with non-genuine?

It's possible. The genuine second hand extends to the edge of the dial. The replica ones are too short. Also, on genuine bezels, the pearl is centered in the triangle. On the replicas, the pearl sits too low near the edge of the bezel.

I noticed both as soon as I saw the picture.

I have, but just to look at the movement, not compare it to anything. It says Omega on the rotor (which I know doesn't mean much). It'd never even crossed my mind it could be a replica. I would figure the AD wouldn't have worked on it if so, but who knows. That would be a real bummer if it weren't 100% genuine. Looks like a trip to Hal Martin's is in store for me next week. At least I have an Oris being delivered to me today...

Atm2004, I believe it is from around 2005 or 2006. Nice looking Seamaster! I like the nylon strap. Definitely different.

Nah -- not nearly that much for a plain one. You could find a plain or "uncomplicated" version for half that.

Hopefully this person has the coin for one. Of course it might be more expensive than what he wants, but then again, we don't know how much he's willing to spend....

How is it any different than a car guy spending $20k on a classic car or a fisherman spending $20k on a boat? To a lot of people, a watch is more than just a tool to tell time.

My dad's gold Rolex is probably near 20K in value, but he didn't pay that. And no, I'm not even looking for a car in that price range!

Rolex is classic. Bell&Ross is a totally different style of watch. Apples to oranges my friend.

B&R are a little too casual for the money for me, but being a pilot, I like the altimeter look to them. Think Rolexes are timeless, but I am underwhelmed by the old datejusts and things. The Milgauss (green crystal) is beautiful and I do like the all stainless daytona.
