Can you narrow down on 35 where this happened? Am told it may be from an under-maintained NAFTA truck from Mexico? Dunno.

Not possible...I know of 0 tractor trailers with brakes that small let alone with only 5 lug wheels. Haha even if they ARE coming from Mexico.

It happened on 35 just north of Berry Street. I pulled off at the next exit which is Allen Ave. The truck is at the collision center now but I have the drum. Its going to be hung in my garage. If anyone has any ideas on how to look up where it came from because it does have numbers on it let me know.

No way it came off something in use...it looks like it has been in a crusher already......probably fell off a crushed car that was being hauled on a flatbed 18-wheeler.
For the past couple of years, as they haul the cruched cars, I have seen them wrapping them with that orange construction fence material....obviously to keep debris from falling off the cars. Brake drums are only held on by the wheel bolted on....and on crushed cars, they always remove the wheels..therefore, the drum would only be held on by friction of the brake shoes or rust.

I know that when you are trying to get a drum off a car, it is stuck on pretty good.

Thankful you are ok brother! I think I might have to drink for a week. Can't even begin to imagine what you must have felt like.
