Braided line is made for sewing not fishing. Had a friend who always ran braided line and when he did have the occasional crows nest, the knots it made on the spool were so tight he had to cut the whole spool of line out and start all over. And if you were fishing on a boat with him and you got tangled up with him for some reason, he pretty much had to cut his line to get things untangled. So while he was dicking around fixing fook ups we were busy catching his limit for him. I saw no advantages.
LOL. I went bay fishing this weekend with a guide and he used all braided line. I have never in my life used it and he talked about how awesome it is...50lb test on a 8lb diameter. All the way out to the fishing spot I was pretty impressed with all of this.
We managed to cross lines with that stuff a couple of times and I will kiss anyone's ass if they think this stuff doesnt tangle far worse than mono. Its strong as hell, but god forbid you get a tangle with it.
I can detangle my mono line on my baitcaster in about 30 seconds, and thats a SERIOUS birds nest in the surf.
I may try braided from teh strength benefits, but Im afraid of the wreck it will make.
We cut out at least 5 tangles...CUT them out. That doesnt sit well with me. One we insisted on untangling and it took about 15 minutes.
