If black, Lacy. Short for Midnight Lace. Always liked that name for a black female dog.

A female Lab deserves a name with some class and dignity. How about Abigail(Abby) or Madison(Maddy, my best friend's name)

You're asking for naming advice on a board where I named a dog "The Duck" and another wanted to name his kid "Tex".

...I think there have to be better places to turn for advice on this particular subject.

to test out a dog name you need to yell out the potentail dog name when you are around your buddies. If they laugh then try again until they don't laugh.

i.e. if you yell out princess come here that might not be a good name.

Other good lab puppy names are

NO you stupid POS.
NO WTH are you doing?
NO Here.

those are usually stand bys in the early years.

I like some of the suggestions. Mrs. Trout was "field testing" a few names, such as Saffron, Mango, Ginger or Daisy for a yellow lab. We still haven't decided on a color, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Name her after your favorite alcohol. I used to have a female black lab named Shiner. Lot's of people thought it was pretty cool because it was unusual. Names like Dixie, Daisy, Maggie are good but very common. We always try to find unique names for our animals. My golden retriever has a common name but spelled with a cajun twist. Instead of Bo we spelled it Beaux. We continued our southern theme with our other golden and named her Bella.

Ag97 - Using a favorite alcohol sounds good in theory, but I see some flaws. Something about the name "Mad Dog 20/20" just doesn't sound right.

Artemis - call her missy. Greek god of hunting.

My female black is Aggie. That's unique for us stuck up here in the Frozen Wasteland, but for a Texas dog is this way too common to warrant mentioning?

You could name her Ceska Zbrojovka, but call her CeeZee for short.
