If this situation actually happened and it gets posted on TexAgs, they could be on the hook as an accessory after the fact. It is also possible that ESPN could get dragged into the legal fray (I do not know the details the affiliate agreement) and I don't think ESPN would really appreciate that kind of attention.
Regardless if the situation actually happened, TexAgs could be implicated in defamation (libel/slander) lawsuits.
Considering the potential damage and implications, TexAgs taking down threads based on hearsay, calling people out, naming names, etc. is a logical act of self-preservation. Short-term- and perma-bans are extensions of that.
