Color wont matter to the fish, but a brighter color could be beneficial to other boaters.

I think you will really like the T100. You wont win any races, but they sure are handy, stable, and maneuverable boats. (although the T100 is probably as fast as the Scrambler)

Fish react to shadows not color. Just like us when looking up from underwater they just see a shape.

Just got a kayak (pelican).. prob for mostly lakes. But heading down to Galveston for the weekend to test it out. I know nothing about fishing off the coast any advise?

get a little anchor (or make your own) so you can get out and wade once you get to where you are going....especially if it is windy.
I generally only fish from the kayak when I can get a perfect drift along to the shore going.

I have a Mad River Synergy 12 for sale (on DFW Craigslist and Texas Fishing Forum). I'm in Grapevine. I'm asking $600 fully rigged.

That might be a great deal (and probably is), but 12' is a little too long for my needs and truck space. I can get away with the 10' in the bed of the truck, but the 12' would require a bed extender.

Out of curiosity, what all is included in yours? Vest/paddle, etc? Feel free to paste the link to craigslist.

12 footer is fine in a truck bed.

12' foot fit fine in my short bed crew cab truck as well.

I like a short (10') kayak because they are lighter and more maneuverable (which means you end up using it more) and I tend to fish more than paddle so distance was never a priority for me. I'm also less than 200 lbs.

If this fits your criteria and you are OK with a slower kayak with less weight capacity then forget about the 12'. If you are a heavy dude and you want to cross some big lakes or bays as fast as you can to get straight to that one fishing spot 4 miles away then you really should look at at least a 12' and there is a helluva deal on this page.

dgtxag, I don't know Galveston but some folks here appear to have it scoped out pretty well:

I picked up the Tarpon 100 this weekend! Rented on from Austin Kayak beforehand, to make sure it was a good fit (rental was free since it was basically a demo).

Fished at Bush Creek Lake early, and Town Lake later in the day. Not much luck with bites, but it was great wearer and the Town Lake water was quite cool.

Took it out again yesterday at Cedar Creek Lake while we were at a friend's lakehouse. It was quite choppy, from all the boats and jet skis, but it handled well.

Now I have to figure out where I'll go near Dallas. Any suggestions for calm water with good fishing?

Ask on the freshwater board at TexasKayakFisherman.
