That is how I was raised as well, we just didn't apply it to destructive nuisance animals that taste like sh**.

And that approach is wholely unrealistic for attempting to control feral pig populations. I encourage everyone to shoot every feral hog they see, hell run them over, whatever it takes. It's for the good of our ecosystem in Texas to kill these things on site. If the choice is to kill one hog in a group then process it or kill five and dump them, I would advise to kill five and dump them. I confident is saying that any wildlife biolgist, game manager, Game Warden, and so would agree.

Sportsmanship is to be strived for, no question. But we should make exceptions now and then and feral hogs is one of them. Besides, it's not about hunting them, it's about killing them just the same as an exterminator kills rats.

How big of a glue trap would it take for wild hogs?

I will readily admit that my method of dealing with hogs is not sporting. It's not really intended to be. It's intended to be efficient.

I will argue that I DO donate the pigs I shoot. I donate them to the coyotes, to the buzzards, to the opossums and coons, to the ants... hell, even to the pigs themselves. They are a pest and they are to be eradicated. Period.

Thanks "sunchaser" - great minds run in the same channel!
How in the he!! do these threads get off on tangents like this.
Those critters are tghe Al Quaida of West Texas wildlife - plain and simple.
They don't belong here, didn't belong here and unfortunately will remain here.

A similar situation occured years ago at the Trout Club my dad belonged to in Colorado.

We used to fish there every summer and catch Brook Trout that were only matched by the lunkers you can catch in Ontario 9ie. 3-5 lbs.). The Board of Directors tried to save a bunch of money and bought fry instead of fingerlings to re-stock with. When they did, they got alot of "sucker fry". The fishing has never been the same.
Point being, with the dissolution of sheep ranching in West Texas,if the Aoudads weren't there we would have alot more Desert Bighorns!
They belong in Texas!!!!

If you are applying that to the wild hog population then you are completely unaware of the problem they pose. Not to mention that if you can find a human who wants the carcass of a big boar, then you have found someone with some serious olfactory damage. When it comes to hogs, shot, stab, trap, dynamite, napalm...whatever, just make sure they stop breathing.

Did this one last summer, it was a nice 32" stinker. I am going to post some pics here soon of one my customer shot on the 101 Ranch that went 30" but weighed in excess of 350 lbs. We just called it the toad. We are doing another half lifesize on it.
