I'm leaning toward the Toro...anyone have any experience with either of these?

I have the troy-built and it is one heck of a good mower, but then again I have never used a toro so I cant really compare them.

Lawn-Boy...hands down!

Well, I guess this makes my decision easier.

As an owner of a troy bilt, I suggest the Toro.

Troy bilt today is NOT the troy bilt it used to be. If this was 1975, troy bilt would be the way to go, but its now the same chinese crap, so toro is the way to go.

I have that Toro model. Couldn't be happier with it.

I have this same exact model of TORO mower. I love it so far.

Toro.... I have the "Personal Pace" and I laugh my way around the yard every weekend. Don't pay extra for the electric start. I've had mine for 5 years and it cranks on the first pull.

Is it worth the extra 50 bucks for the "personal pace" vs. the variable speed feature? Anyone know how fast the variable speed can operate? I think I read somewhere the personal speed can get up to 4.8 mph.

my husband and i have the toro (exact one you are looking at) and i LOVE it. i do most of the mowing and can always get it started on one pull. plus, it really is a breeze to use

I'd be interested to see what other people say, but my opinion would be yes, it is worth it.

I bought the Troy-Built three years ago and I used it for a lawn mowing service for a year. I was very hard on it and it still cranks like it is brand new. I have never used the Toro so I can not comment on that machine.

fwiw I bought a Snapper a few months ago and it's a mowing sumbich so far. If the longevity is anywhere near what folks say it is, it'll prove to be a dang good investment.

just bought a self propelled honda at sam's for about 280-290 that is kick ass

I have a 2 stroke Toro that is over 20 years old. It starts on the first or second pull everytime and cuts very well. My only complaint is that the right rear wheel fell off. The bolt sheared off and I had to Aggie Engineer it since they don't make parts for it anymore.

Update: Just bought the Toro "Personal Pace" mower from Home Depot (on sale for 314.00) and I have to say it is a badass mower. Didn't really know what the Personal Pace was all about, but it is basically a pressure sensitive device that can "feel" how fast you are walking and it goes that fast. As someone mentioned, its like it's floating in front of you...pretty neat. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I have a Toro and have hated every second of owning it. I don't like the Briggs engine for one thing. For another, I never liked the PP drive system. And finally, the blade on mine couldn't cut warm butter, and it was the worst so-called mulcher I've ever seen. Other than that, it was fabulous.

My current Troy Built has a Honda motor on it and its ran well for a year so far.
