Here’s what I got: ( actually someone else pics but mine’s exactly the same )
Its a 16" bbl with a birdcage on it and has M4 ramps and a "F" marked front sight. T-marks on the flat top.

Problem is I also want an iron rear sight so that I can co-witness my Holo sight with my iron sights. Even a flip up rear sight would be ok as long as I have the option of using the irons in case the battery runs out on the Holo sight. Has anyone here found a functioning combination of rear iron sight, HOLO sight, and HOLO mount that co-witnesses well with a ramped front site?

This is true, but, I've shot the Eotech and really liked the Holo type sight. Should come in handy on those CQB hog hunts. For this rifle I'm not looking for a magnifying scope or night vision compatibility.

I was thinking of one of the less expensive foremounts that clamp, rather than free float. Bad?

deatsman: Since I've never shot with the Aimpoint, what advantages, besides battery life, would you say it has over the EOTECH and vice versa?

MisterShipWreck: What combo did you find works for co-witness of the EOTECH and iron sights? I.e. specific sight mounts.

I don't co-witness. I don't like anything in my view thru the EOtech.

It's all about personal prefernce. I happen to have a Leupold CQ/T on my carbine.

But the aimpoint is very nice. It's point and shoot. They are designed to be on target no matter what angle your eye is looking through the scope. Also, 10,000 hour battery life is pretty unbelievable. Like the Eo-tech they are battle tested and have passed. It really does come down to personal preference. If you feel like spending $700(mine was a gift) you can get a CQ/T, which has true 1x-3x zoom, lit reticle, and you don't need a BUIS.

Aimpoints are hot **** b/c the spec ops guys have them, so everybody wants one.

But they use Eotechs on "The Unit"

Man, I so want an AR. Too bad I got that $140 bike ticket, or I would have probably splurged the money for one. I really like the flat tops too, which is what you got. Post up some pictures when you have the thing all set up.

I bet Eo-Tech paid a pretty penny for that.

Here is what we did to ours. It is a Colt with a Burris Black Diamond 8x32x56 scope but we also have the EOTECH holographic sight.

Talk to me about the pros and cons of mounting a scope on the carry handle (A2).

I've got a buddy that has a buddy that was an armorer in the Army. He's done all kinds of builds and he does all the work himself. My buddy said that he has a setup like this with quick release mounts. Like this:



Is this even possible. I know it's not that hard to mount a rail on the carry handle, but I'm concerned with the high mount and the angle vs. the barrel. Does anyone have a scope mount that they recommend? I like that the A.R.M.S.® #02™ M16 Scope Mount still allows you to use the iron sights, but for all I know, it could be a complete POS and at $60, that isn't a cheap POS.

Nice looking gun, I have one just like it (but its a Rock River) with the flat top. I put an EOTech on mine and the front accessory rails. My next upgrade is that surefire front grip, that thing is awesome.

It was a gift but it was purchased from D-Ray's(now closed in Dallas). I am sure Ray's(sister store) still carries them.
