While a foldable apple device is neat, it's also technology that's been around for at least a decade. Having both a ipad mini and a phone in one device sounds like a good concept. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Sounds like something that will end up with a crease or line down the middle of the screen that would drive me insane.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max (work phone) and a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

I would rather have the Samsung Fold 8 than the iPhone Duo. Although, it would be nice to replace my iPhone and iPad with one device. I'm in construction, so use the iPad to review plans in the field a lot.

They are simply trying to juice their mobile phone sales. I already hate doing most anything on my ipad that isn't just internet surfing or very basic things.

15 pro max to 18 pro max

I'm comfortable with the phone size as-is, and have my ipad or laptop if i need something bigger.

i barely use my phone right now unless i'm out and about. And really that's just to...lol...make calls. Neat but I'm just going to stick with using my ipad around the house.

I thought I wouldn't like it, but all the hands-on reviews have been really positive. If it could replace most of what I use my iPad for, it might actually be worth it to me. I mainly use the iPad for work tasks that are difficult or impossible to do well on a regular phone.

18 Pro for me for the better cameras and battery life (upgrading from 16 Pro). The Duo is interesting but using it closed looks to be a pain one-handed (much wider and heavier than iPhones), it doesn't have a proper zoom, and is missing the variable aperture of the 18 Pro.

I already have an iPad Pro if I want a bigger screen.

I'll be upgrading from the 13 Pro to the 18 Pro Max for the increased battery life.

I really didn't want to upgrade but I've already replaced the battery and screen on the 13 Pro and it's got nagging little issues.

I LOVED the samsung fold phone...just wasn't a fan of android so came back to apple beginning of the year knowing apple was releasing a fold...instead apple released a turd

From initial review I've read it's thicker and heavier than all of its competitors making it hard to type and the camera is inferior to the 18 while being almost twice the price. That's a deal killer to me.

I think it's a cool idea but I am a pro max iPhone user and won't entertain much else. If I can't do it on my pro max, I'll go to my Windows desktop. I've had two iPads and both were used less than 15 hours before collecting dust, goijg obsolete, and now sit dead. I dont really "get" the ipad and i am a huge apple fan.

I'll upgrade from a 15 pro to an 18 pro. I don't have any need for a foldable.

My iPad is a TexAgs posting device for the porch. It's useless for doing any work at all, but to be transparent I hate even using laptops. Mobiles devices as a group are useless devices for anything beyond web surfing. Anything at all beyond that gets done on my desktop.

I completely agree. I have a laptop for business use but it's absolutely last resort. It's a "it will work, but only if I have no other option."

Agree with iPad, and even the Mac I had. Totally useless for productivity or business use. The Mac is running Windows. Hahaha.

I will end up getting it. It will replace my kindle. I have grown on the form factor and they were able to make mag safe work as well as the pencil which is nice.

iPads are for consuming content, not creating it. Their best use is probably in a cockpit.

I agree with this sentiment.

The folded screen is too small for my liking, which I will use under most scenarios. The unfolded screen isnt large enough to be a tablet.

I would rather get a Normal Iphone or an Iphone Pro Max for larger real estate. It's basically doing the same thing but you wont have the annoyance of flipping and folding, and you get a better immediate experience for most use cases.

It's a gimmick, imo.

I can see the need for a foldable. I take an iPad Pro to court for all of my appearances and use it most of the time. I have a mini I got as a supplement but, unlike the Pro, it doesn't have the built in modem. The foldable would essentially function as the mini and be even better because for many things, I wouldn't have to pull out the Pro. If I just have to reference docs, filings, or especially just notes, it would be just fine.

With that said, I like the bigger device because I'm not seeing the smaller stuff as well as I used to! For younger eyes doing what I'm doing, the folding iPhone would probably be a plus. It highly depends on weight, however.

If the Duo had the variable aperture lens and pro controls from the 18 Pro (Pro Max) I would be more tempted to get it. Knowing Apple, I only need to wait one or two years for the better lens/camera to be available on the Duo. My 16 Pro Max has plenty of life left to wait and see where the Duo goes

i am so dang intrigued by it. i downgraded from a iphone pro to a regular iphone a while ago and bought an ipad mini. basically the iphone is for music and calls and random texts but the mini is where i spend most of my time browsing and it comes with me to work to look at agendas during meetings etc.

this seems like the perfect combo of the two.

im curious about what kind of deals verizon will have on them

Right now on the 18 pro and max, you are getting $1200 credit which would still leave $800 over the course of 3 years

I am seriously considering adding AT&T next up anytime and trade in in a year when the duo duo launches just with being a first generation

I am not a camera nerd so it doesn't bother me as much. I am just glad they figured out MagSafe on it

yeah and im about to add a line for my daughter and probably give her my old phone so i wonder if ill get any sort of discount for adding a line (not trading in a device)

I will be very curious what the deals in general will be. Flips have typically only been 2% of the global market but it's a market that Apple users haven't had access too. Maybe they would be more likely to desire an Apple foldable

Got a 17 Pro Max last year. Think I'll wait for the 19's or 20's and see how the Duo has evolved by then.

I have a 16 Pro. I'll be waiting for the 24, if I'm lucky.

I've got a 16 Pro, so I should be set for a few more years.

Unfortunately my wife's 12 Mini is just about done...battery is shot and lightning port won't connect anymore. $300 to fix it. Or do I pay $900 for a new 17? Or do I go all out and get her an 18 Pro for $1200?

The battery cameras, battery, and much better thermals are reason enough for me to upgrade from a 16 Pro to 18 Pro.

Got my wife a Pro phone as well just for the better cameras.
