So Nvidia had their press conference a few hours ago with some surprising news. Everyone knew they were going to release their 5000 series GPUs, but no one expected them to claim the $549 GTX 5070 will have performance that rivals the current $1500 GTX 4090.

They also just announced a new home and business computer line called Digits, which will feature their new Grace AI chip. This will be a small desktop computer capable of running huge AI workloads.

Already being called out for misleading claims.

I'm so tired of all this AI ****

Personally, I don't give a **** about the upscaling numbers. I want to see the raw performance at a native output for true comparisons.

Yep. And I'll never care about frame generation. I'm not playing games on PC that can deal with input lag or weird AI artifacts. Give us the raw performance comparisons instead of comparing with frame generation or DLSS on the 5070 vs no DLSS on the 4090. Useless comparisons.

5070 will be a fantastic deal imo. Scalpers are going to grab everything so i hope they produce a ton of cards and ruin them like Playstation did for the ps5 pro. Will likely upgrade my 3070 to a 5070 or 5060 depending on its specs when released.

Yeah I was planning to do a new rig but may just do a small refresh and this is a good idea.

Exactly. I just want to see benchmarks from gamers nexus and hardware unboxed for true performance.

Really interested in the 5070 benchmarks at that price... Could be time to upgrade my 3080

I'm planning on upgrading my 3070 to a 5070 pending true benchmarks!

Maybe I can finally sell my old 1080ti and get a new card for my son.

Typical that I just got my new rig with a 4090 and then they immediately announce the next card will have same performance at less than half the price. ha!

Its a little deceptive but the comparison they gave is raw native 4090 vs 5070 upscale with ai/dlss 4 just to equal the fps. The 4090 with dlss should still way out perform it especially if it gets dlss 4 retroactively.

100%. I wouldn't expect the previous gen flagship to beat their low end of their mid tier in current. Especially Nvidia. Hopefully we'll see benchmarks in the next couple of weeks, I've seen some people already have reference cards so there is hope.

Edit: Also I'm tired of Nvidia cutting so much VRAM off the next tiers of cards. If the 5080 had 24GB of VRAM I'd be tempted, very tempted, to go up.

Same thought, but with my 5700XD it may not be worth it without a new motherboard and processor too. At that point I'm really just building a new computer. Not sure how I'll spin that to the wife.

NVIDIA really said "You think $1599 was bad? Watch this!"

a 5700X3D? should plenty of power to not bottleneck a 5070 at 1440 and above.

I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, not sure if it's worth going new build or just upgrading my 3070ti to a 5070 or 5080.

Should be good, if I am.

It will last for this upgrade, especially at 4k. there were very few instances of the 5800x3d actually bottlenecking a 4090 at 4k I would not anticipate it being a problem even with a 5080, or at least a big enough one to matter.

I am not personally planning on upgrading my 5800X3D this go round. if i were getting a 5090 that would be a different story.

Upgrade should last another generation tbh. Im in same boat with the 5700x3d. It should not have any issues driving my 1440p 166hrz monitor with a 5070. I would not be surprised if it even holds up to 4k as the gpu takes the majority of the strain.

I'm rocking a 2080 super still, so I think I'm upgrading no matter what this gen. I'll determine which card I get once I see raw comparisons, though. Not these inflated numbers.
