I have a sauna heater with a 220V plug but of course I'm set up for a typical 120V outlet. Does anyone have a recommendation out a converter box or process. I have zero electrical ingenuity so a simple converter would be best.
If they have an easy path to the panel its not hard.rooftop18403 said:
Not far. I have a 120v receptacle near the would-be heater and the actual breaker box is in the same room less than 15' away. How easy would a receptacle switch be?
Not to mention that a step-up transformer that could power that heater would be prohibitively expensive. Cheaper to just hire an electrician as has been suggested.jg07 said:
Just to reiterate this, at 120V, 9000W is 75A. You're not setup for that. At best you're probably wired for 20A at your 120V receptacle. Most builders will throw that on a 15A circuit unless you dedicated it specifically for something more.
You might as well run a 50A, 240V circuit rather than messing around with a transformer. How far are you from your panel?
