PC runs windows 10, only used for running my engraver. Today was working in Corel and both back screens went gray but Corel stayed up but was unresponsive. It dod the same a couple days ago but corrected itself.

This time it did not correct so I manually turned it off and waited to restart. When restarting it beeped three or four times and took a while to fail and give me the blue screen. Worked through steps I've found on youtube and have gotten to the point of resetting it, but want to keep files since I have a couple projects on there I need.

Tried to reset and it stops before any changes are made.

First thought was graphics card, had an older one so trued it and it still doing it. Any suggestions? I may remove a RAM and see if that helps

This does sound like a hardware issue. I would try RAM. If that doesn't work, it's probably the mobo.

You can get bootable CDs or USB drives that will test your RAM and see if that's the issue. You could also get one to boot up with Linux and transfer your files, if it is a software issue.

I'm going to guess bad drive. You can most likely get the data off the drive or restore from backup. What was the message on the blue screen? What model and how old is the computer? Will it run Windows 11?

Was able to get it to boot from a USB. Got windows reinstalled and everything has been running smoothly since. I only use it for when engraving so I have not really taxed it much since I got it all reloaded.

The error was "critical process died". It looks like it kept the old windows so I am going to dig through the logs to see if I can find out what happened.

Luckily I was able to get files before resetting just in case I had to start from scratch.
