gaming/office chair gas strut failing

I need Texags nerdery help. Need a cheap fix to get a few more months out of my chair. Gas strut fails about 10 minutes sitting in it. I go from perfect height to little people height. Short of "lose weight fatty!" what fix can I do? Clamp fasteners?

I had this happen to mine. I used these to fix it. Lots like it, pick your set based on cylinder diameter.

Try getting that strut out of either end (chair or wheel base) and youll just buy a new chair lol they are like welded in place with friction after sitting on them for so long. Its why i just went with the plastic outer rings as my chair was still good.

Just be glad the thin piece of plastic between the gas strut and you didn't fail
