My left stick is, without contact, directing everything to the 10:00 position. I did all the YouTube cheapie tricks, but it's still jacked up. This is my only controller and I am impossibly cheap when it comes to gaming, so I don't want to drop $70 on a replacement.

Anyone gone through this before?

If so, y'all got some tips?

I'm fr about to throw this whole console in the dumpster. Don't got time for this.

DS are notorious for stick drift. You can search YT for fixes. Some easy (cleaning analog stick brush contacts) to soldering on potentiometers.

You could try a quick blast of canned air into the analog gap and see if that does anything.

Best option...wait till black Friday and buy a new Dualsense

If you feel like tinkering before Black Friday, you could look at buying some Hall effect sticks. Install would take some time.

Once stick drift starts, there is no stopping it. You might be able to delay it for a short while by increasing dead zones if your game supports it but that stick module is toast. Conventional controller sticks use carbon strips where it makes contact to determine stick postion. Once that strip wears away, you can't get it back.

You can buy aftermarket replacement stick modules with hall effect sensors, but you better be good with a soldering iron and following directions from a youtube video.

I don't understand why manufacturers continue to use this decades old poor design when hall effect sensors are so cheap now. What really irritates me is that Sony did make some PS3 controllers with hall effect sensors years ago but abandoned that design for some unknown reason.

Having the PS5 as my main entertainment console and playing a lot of games like Destiny 2 has caused me to buy so many PS5 controllers.

I've tried a chunk of the online fixes, replaced stick modules, etc. and like Spieg said... once it starts it is the beginning of the end for that controller.

I've generally had a spare one at the ready that I will buy on sale, if possible. They are not built to last, sadly.

Get a dualsense edge so you can buy replacement stick modules when you get drift. Also get the benefit of the paddles.

Availability has been horrendous on those modules so far. They are always out of stock. I don't know why Sony released something before they had stock of replacement parts. If they can ever get the availability figured out, that will help the problem some.
