I have a Dell USB-C dual monitor set up (Model P2723DE - Link)

The cable setup I have has a DisplayPort connection on one end to the monitor and a USB-C on the other.
For my work computer, I simply plug in the USB-C to my computer and all is well.

My home laptop does not have USB-C ports. It has a USB-A 3.0 connection.
I tried a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 adapter with no joy (display port to usb-c to adapter to home computer).

What other solutions might be available to make my home laptop work with the dual monitor set up?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, USB A does not support display output. What other ports does your laptop have?

Thanks for the response and good to know! I actually got the new monitors to work by utilizing the docking station brick from my old set up. This essentially utilizes a combination of HDMI, Display Port, USB-B, and USB-A cables. Was hoping to streamline the setup with the internal features of the new monitors, but no such luck until I retire the home computer.

Thanks again!

It doesn't have native support, but you can get a USB-A to provide display output. It's bandwidth limited so it won't support 4k or even 1440 at 60 hz, but 1080/60 should work reasonably fine.

For my work laptop (Dell) I have a Dell D6000 dock at home that connects to the computer with USB-C. It uses DisplayLink drivers on the computer to drive my dual 1920x1200 displays, and the dock also works with my personal laptop (older Asus running Ubuntu with only USB-A ports via an adapter).

DisplayLink can be a bit squirrelly to get working on alternate OS's but I lucked into Ubuntu basically having a supported driver package.

In the office I connect my work laptop to a fancier dock with a Thunderbolt connection which in my understanding is a higher speed interconnect that carries the DisplayPort signals natively.

Should be able to do USB A to HDMI pretty easily, especially display link

Sorry was late to this, yep Dell Docking station is the easiest way (have a ton of variety of USB and different age monitors at work we are always trying to squeeze the life out of)
