I know this is probably a simple question for this board but what is the best device to download videos for toddlers? When we travel I want the little to be able to watch Sesame Street and things like that
Thanks

We have an iPad mini that we let our son use. The best thing I've found is downloading videos he likes off of YouTube and them loading them into VLC on the iPad.

But lately as he's gotten more into educational games than videos we use my wife's kindle since Amazon Underground or whatever has a ton of free toddler apps on it.

We have a Kid's Amazon Fire tablet (has the protective case) for our toddler. I've been able to store movies and even episodes of Sesame Street that are available on Prime. We're on to Paw Patrol now, so I'll have to see what I can load up.

Keep an eye on Amazon closer to Black Friday and you should be able to get one at a decent price.

Yeah, ours have had Fire Tabs. I feel way more comfortable with a $35 tablet (Black Friday/Prime Day price) in a toddlers hands than a $400+ iPad. Also, if you pay a little more for the 'Kids Edition' it comes with a nice protective case and lifetime warranty.

The case isn't a big deal as you can buy a similar one for <$10, but the warranty is great. Our daughter slammed hers to the ground in a fit of rage at her brother once when she was 2 and shattered the screen, and Amazon sent me a shipping label to return it and mailed the brand new replacement within a couple days.

Kids won't care about the lack of full HD and most kids' games don't require a ton of RAM, so I don't see a real reason to pay a lot for a spec'd out tablet for them. Also the Fire has an SD slot, so extra storage is dirt cheap and easy. You could even keep an extra or two pre-loaded with additional videos and just swap out. Though, in my experience, kids are likely to watch the same favorite video or two 1 billion times no matter how many options you give them.

that damn mayor keeps using the Paw Patrol to solve her own dumb problems. They could save city money and easily cut the budget for the special unit if they just got rid of the mayor and the goofy sailor guy that always get in trouble.

It's amazing how many of these cartoon characters can maintain jobs!

I haven't looked too closely, but is there a way to disable download apps, books, videos, etc when on the Kid's display on a Fire tab? My son will randomly tap on all sorts of stuff and it fills up the home screen carousel. I only want I've downloaded for him. Maybe there's a better way to do this.

amazon Fire - either kids or the adult are super cheap.

There are parental controls that you can set up. You can also set up Freetime which each child would have their own profile with individual time limits on certain content. My kids are older now, so the parental controls is all we use for the kindle's.

Be sure to look into Movies Anywhere app, allows you to view Apple, Google, & Amazon movie/TV purchases across all 3 ecosystems.

Essentially, have some Paw Patrol bought on iTunes? That will allow you to view it on Amazon or Android devices.

I saw that you can age limit the apps in their profile, but not a way to fully disable them being to download them. I'll do some more digging.

I don't think you can lock the homescreen but you can control quite a few things from the parent dashboard.

Amazon really does have the best "kid tablet ecosystem" between the ruggedized cheap tablet, freetime unlimited service and the parents dashboard.

For a toddler.... something that's not a touch screen and has hidden buttons.

I think I figured out what I wanted to do... disable FreeTime Unlimited. That should only show the content I want on there versus the billion books and apps.

PooDoo, yeah, it would be nice to disable pause on videos, or at least require a swipe down for controls. My son will start tapping the heck out of it, going from pause to play.

Is OP asking which device...or is this more of a content/source question? Because the device can basically be anything portable that has storage and the ability to connect to a network or internet.

I'd think the bigger question is who/what offers downloadable content to travel with without the need to buy everything. Just curious if that's really the question?

Ipad. Download stuff while connected to WiFi and then play on plane

Or if you have amazon prime do the same for their kids videos. Download then can play offline. Mine loves stinky and dirty

Please use the spoiler tags next time. My kid is about to wrap up Super Why and Paw Patrol was next on the binge watching list.
