Wish they would add Discovery. Discovery, science channel and tlc for this mrs will keep us at vue until added. I like the value of this, especially with opening up access to Hulu database and their original shows. Gives them a leg up on the other providers, in my opinion.

Thoughts (the bad):
  • No device support for my FireTvs
  • No nick or nick jr
  • No discovery
  • No AMC
  • No DIY

(the good):
  • Adds CBS on-demand in San Antonio
  • No LHN...haha
Its a no go for me for now. I am a PS Vue user now, but when they add an app on the amazonTV platform, I'll take a hard look.

Have you seen anything about sports app availability (Fox Sports Go, NBC Sports, Watch ESPN)? Not being able to access those apps through DirecTV Now was the primary reason I didn't continue my subscription past 3 months

According to their FAQ this does not appear to be accurate for DirecTV Now any longer. Each one of these applications has the option of selecting the provider "DirecTV Now".

Seems more like an alternative cable provider than a 'cut the cord' solution.

I'm not interested but wanted to show people their options since many have been talking about cutting the cord on this forum. Also makes you feel better about your option seeing what's out there, if you have something good.

Seems like a win for a Hulu user, basically it's $32 for the live TV if you have Hulu.

To me these services are more a way to strategically start/stop your TV subscriptions. In other words, I don't care to watch every Rangers or Mavs games, those that end up on OTA TV are more than enough for me, but if they make the playoffs I'll jump in for May until they're eliminated or October for the Rangers. I however care a great deal that I can watch the Cowboys/Aggies for every football game, so I'll subscribe starting late August-January and then dump it until at least May.

With DirecTV Now I can get everything I want for ~$40/mo and then drop that charge to $15/mo during off peak months (HBO). That's $25/mo savings in off months vs. DirecTV Now. It's more like $50/mo in off peak and $25/mo during peak versus traditional cable. If I subscribe only during football season that's $475/yr I'm saving versus traditional cable.

That explains why they revamped their Xbox app!

I like it, but my wife loves the two Hallmark channels. When we cut the cord it will likely be Sling, as it's the only option to get both Hallmark channels and the SEC Network.

If they can add AMC and get a Roku app, it might make me leave PS Vue.

If the stuff that cost extra were included in the base, I might consider switching. I'll stick with Vue. Though I must say that I greatly prefer Hulu's layout/presentation over all the others.

Watch ESPN has worked with Directv Now since I signed up about 5-6 months ago...

I get that the Watch ESPN app has been available on the DirecTV Now for awhile, but in late March, when my initial 3-month term was set to expire, neither FSGo or NBC Sports app seemed to be available.

So 2/3 of your complaint is accurate. Got it.

I've been a paid Hulu subscriber for a few years now and love it. I'm a bit peeved that this isn't available on Roku. I will purchase it as soon as it is.
