I have used PSVue, SlingTV, and Directv Now. PSVue is the best of the three by far in my opinion. Directv Now is unwatchable 50% of the time due to constant freezing.

I'll agree, but I will add that PSVue is slow and freezes at least once during shows that I watch, ranging up to freezing a dozen times and more per show. It may be my isp.

Psvue actually having deals with the networks to use their standalone apps was the difference maker to me. I have found the network apps to be much more consistent in terms of quality, and I will pay for the Vue service for that access.

Also, cloud dvr makes it the winner here. My wife was baffled and confused about how to watch tv when I took her dvr away by going to directvnow. It was a deal breaker.

Cloud DVR is the tits. Keeps the shows for the last 28 days. When you record a re-run show like Seinfeld, there's a whole bunch of them that accumulate.

I prepaid for 3 months of Directvnow and I think the service has been better for me than some on here; however, I will probably be switching to PS Vue once the 3 months is up unless they roll out plans for a DVR or have more app access than they currently do (can't get NBC Sports, Fox Sports Go, etc.)

I have almost no issues with PS Vue on Time Warner 50MB connection streaming to 2-3 devices at a time, all wireless.

I've not had any issues either and I'm on 25 meg on what maybe one of the lowest rated companies on Google Revies, Longview Kilgore Cable.

Can anyone confirm viewing of the super bowl via stream in Houston? Have vue, but Houston doesn't have CBS so I got the CBS-all access app.

Does anyone know how the game will be available for stream?

Did you keep AT&T for your internet? Any problems with the local channels on PS Vue? And is it correct than WFAA, ch 8 is not on there? What type of Roku device are you using? I'm in the area, have uverse, and am interested in this (but pretty ignorant). Thanks.

We live in a weird area that has Spectrum (Charter), Uverse AND Frontier (Fios). I price shopped the heck out of all three...and ended up going w Charter... 60x6 for $45/mo.

In DFW, vue gets all the (important) local channels... cbs,fox,nbc.... pbs comes as a roku channel. There's a WFAA roku channel...been using it for the news.

I'd originally bought an ota antenna and a Tablo... but I wasn't 100% pleased w it so I returned it all.

FINAL SETUP:
Internet
PS vue
Rokus on 3 TVs (2 streaming, 1 4k)
ASUS AC5300 (fantastic btw)
Netflix
Amazon prime video

I've got plex running too and working on setting up sonarr and couch potatoe...but haven't got them all working right together w deluge... I'm close though....

::EDIT::
ABC is only VOD....not live.. :/

My two complaints so far RE: DVR / Pausing (Primarily running through PS4)

Noticed this last night during the bachelor (it's cool, I'm in a fantasy league)

  • We started it about 20-30 minutes late; however we weren't able to play catch up during it's airing. It looks like you're only able to fast forward when the show is completed recording.

  • Pausing: it seems we can only pause it for ~5 minutes, then it automatically resumes again.

Psvue has been pretty good for my first few weeks, but for some reason tbs is not working for me tonight during the NCAA tournament

Its a hardware issue, not a service issues. PS4's WiFi, for whatever reason, is awful.

Yeah, it's apparently better on the newer slim and Pro versions, but he original PS4's Wifi is garbage.

There are a lot of times it tells you it can't fast forward but it can still do the 10 second skips ahead. I noticed this like you said while its recording a program but also in some on demand programming that it even says fastforwarding isn't allowed. After a while i stopped even bothering with the fastforward button and just used the right button on the remote and do all my fastfowarding via 10 second skips forward (you can just hold it down and skip 2-4 minutes ahead to pass commercials).

After reading the first few pages of this thread, I decided to buy a Fire TV stick and get PS Vue. I just bought the stick on bestbuy.com because amazon.com couldn't deliver before 5/14 and Best Buy said it could be delivered by next Tuesday, the 9th. Same price ($39.99+tax) with free shipping. After adding to my cart, I noticed that I was also getting a free 1-month trial of SlingTV, so I guess I will try that out for a bit before I get PS Vue...

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

PSVue has a free trial as well fwiw.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Assuming they still have it a month from now (or just a few weeks from now), I'll get to compare both services while getting free content for the duration. Unless SlingTV just sucks nuts and I decide to forego the rest of my trial.

Pretty lame they are increasing prices.

just got the email that they are raising prices for vue. Looks like I'll be switching to Hulu Live. Was thinking about it anyway but now it makes it easy. I can get all of the Hulu stuff, plus TV for the same price Vue wants now.

Mine is going from 29.99 to 39.99 for the base package, and from what I can tell I don't get anything new.

$10 increase. $34.99 to $44.99 for Core Slim which includes all the regional and national sports networks.

Got the email too. $10 increase deferred until October. If they get CBS before then, I might keep it.

Yea - a damn near 30% increase. Looks like I'll be shopping Hulu TV or Sling as well. That's bull****

I believe the price increase is only in markets that don't have local channels. Not sure if that means locals are coming to those markets or if it's just a price increase.

I get locals OTA so that isn't a plus for me. After getting that email though the wife and I started talking about how little we watch Vue (other than something on in the background or HGTV). But there are a lot of HGTV shows on Hulu so no big deal there.
I think we are going to nix all the "live tv" and just work with Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime for now, then get the cheapest service that gives us the ESPN app in the fall for football.

I switched to Vue on July 4th and canceled directv. Saving over $100 a month. I haven't been notified about the increase. Got the core slim package. Been enjoying it so far butI do miss the fluidity of Directv. Plus I miss having the back (channel back and forth) button and being able to just type the channel number. I'm sure future updates will resolve some of these issues.
