Thumb drive space

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It says it has 17.5 GB of free space, yet my 4.5 GB file is too large for the destination... I don't understand. Does the nerdery have an explanation?

The drive is more than likely formatted as FAT32 which has a file size limit of 4GB. A good tip is to reformat new thumb drives to NTFS if you can since it has a file size limit of something like 16EB.

Assuming you're on a windows machine. If you're on a Mac, you'd format that way.

If you're jumping between the two, the only "decent" option is exFAT which both Windows and Mac can read and supports file sizes over 4GB.

Thanks dc and travel. You're spot on. I I'm on a windows and will be using it on a windows, I reformatted to an NTFS and it worked great! Learned something new today.
