How long do you want to ignore this user?
Came home from work today and my Netgear Nighthawk r7000 isn't connected to the internet. I've rebooted my router, my nighthawk. I tried every setting possible and I still can't get it to work.

In the router system menu it's telling me that there isn't an ethernet cable plugged into the router internet port. There is a cable plugged in, I know the cable is good. I also know that the port on the back of my modem is good. I have internet just using the modem on a wired connection.

I do notice the internet light on the Nighthawk is not lit up. I have the most updated firmware and I updated it a few days ago with no issues.

Any help would be awesome.

Have you tried the reset button on the back or pulling the battery. I'd reseat the cables and try another Ethernet cable just to see if it makes a difference. Good luck

Any power surges at your place today? Probably so if you live in Houston. Sure sounds like a fried port. If resetting doesn't work, t&p to it.

Have to agree with the above poster. If there is no light on the cable modem or whatever after the router boots up, probably fried. Get a new one and a $50 APC UPS to plug it into. Cheap insurance.

All the lights light up except the internet port. I've tried the power button, unplugging it, tried three different cables. All for naught. It'll power on and I can get into the settings menu, that's where I see the error about no cable plugged in.

And we did have a bad storm blow through yesterday. Everything else seems fine. It was just the router acting up.

Well, I sucked it up and bought a new one it worked right away with no issues. Looks like it did crap out from the storms yesterday. I did notice the new one I bought had a different, larger power cable plug on it. I wonder if I got a later version of the same model this time.

I bought that $50 APC lightning protector/ battery backup and have everything running through it. Here's hoping I don't have to go through that again.
