maybe i'm completely stupid....how do you deposit items into the bank? I see stuff about a bank, however I am not seeing options for deposit/withdrawal.

When you open the bank tab, you'll default to the Withdraw view. Hit R1, and that takes you to deposit.

Same thing at crafting tables. If you look at the top of the pane that opens on the left, some menus have additional tabs, indicated by the dots at the top. Like when you open a merchant tab, you hit R1 to get to Sell or Repair.

The issue is that they really only need that 1.5x capacity at launch. After that, you've got all that hardware sitting idle. Now most of these places have both private data center and cloud capacity, so there should be some elasticity in high volume times.

My guess is that they messed up on the networking front-end, and the system isn't load balancing correctly. That's why you see these glitchy lag spikes.

Surely there are servers and the like that they can rent for a time?

That's the cloud side. If their issue is on the network side like I think it is, then it explains why the cloud side isn't picking up the slack, and explains the lag spikes.

Think of it like a DDoS attack, and we, the players, are the ones attacking. What should happen is that all of our traffic should get distributed across different front-ends. What appears to be happening is that instead of being distributed, it's all funneling to the same place first, then overloading.

It's speculation on my part, but I've seen it a lot in my work. In a room full of developers and server architects, no one is paying enough attention to the routing, switching, and content delivery networks. One very good example of why I'm almost positive this is the case is the queue bouncing between 1st in queue and some crazy large number. That's indicative of packets being dropped because the head-end routers are overloaded.

Yeah, I'm going into retirement after this week I think. After beating Skolas and admitting to myself I'll never see the Lighthouse unless I get carried, there isn't much left for me to do until September 15.

Yeah I still pop it open on the daily but I think its more out of habit than anything else.
