This guy using the Apple watch to get walking directions to Whole Foods was arguably the whitest event of 2014, maybe the decade

how is that funny in anyway?

No.

Don't be a dill. I was simply stating that I was disappointed with the design and that it was reminiscent of the old casio. Those look like ipod nanos on a strap.

But your other point I do agree with. While $350 isn't crazy for a watch, it is pretty insane for what is ultimately a gadget. I assume that's because you're not subsidizing the price with a contract like the phone. I do want to see what the battery life is like from tests as well.

BTW, the big miss that no one is talking about on the AppleWatch is the price point. $350 for a watch that also requires a $200 phone to work? That's what lost me. If they would have sold it for $200, then maybe I could talk myself into it. But $350 is too rich, especially for a 1st Gen.

$350 is a hell of a lot less expensive than the "dumb" watch I'm wearing right now.

I was expecting $500 - $800, and would have thought that was fair.

$350 makes me question its quality and durability as a watch.

I think they do computers at a different event.

I'm looking forward to an AppleTV update myself

Phone is pretty awesome. Payments is awesome

Watch is...OK. A true game changer from a fitness perspective would have been a stand-alone, waterproof device. Im sure next generations will be. If I have to lug around a 5.5" phone in my pocket on a jog, what benefit do I derive from having the watch? None, really.

Why do people lap this **** right up? What makes people jizz their pants over the announcement of some tech product, especially one that doesn't seem all the exciting? I'm pretty nerdy but never understood this.

This is the modus operandi for Apple fanboys. The new phones look nice. But bigger is old news. Hey - they added wifi calling!

As for the watch - $350 for that? I question the ENTIRE category of smartwatch and the Apple Watch didn't change my opinion. It is not handsome like an Omega or Breitling. It will constantly need charging. And since it is locked into Apple's ecosystem no one but the most dedicated Apple person will buy it.

Consider that an unsubsidized iPhone 6 is probably about $700 - add the $350 for the watch and you'll shell out $1000+ to get the maximum functionality.

(I own quite a bit of Apple stock. I think the new iPhone will sell well. Not at all convinced about the watch).

What makes a watch expensive and an electronic device expensive are two totally different things. It's not like the Apple Watch has gears or clockwork in there to make it an automatic.

Anyone know when we'll likely hear about the Ipad Air 2?

Honestly, I kind of agree that the design was underwhelming.

As a comparison, this is what I have for my ipod Nano:

Looks pretty similar to iWatch. Now, it doesn't talk to my ophone and do all that fancy stuff, but it tells the time, lets me plug in my headphones for music, and only has to be charged once every few days or longer... And only cost me around $10 for the strap (and $100ish for the iPod Nano at some point in the past)

Anyone have a link to the full keynote or a highlight of some kind? I'm having trouble getting it to play on Apple.com

And some people pay thousands of dollars for those watches that only tell you what time it is.

Also, if those initial benchmarks for the iPhone 6 are accurate, then that is pretty disappointing. Not the kind of speed I was expecting, and not as good as my HTC. Also, the pixel density. For a company that always boasts of their retina display, you'd think that they would one up their competitors in that area. Overall, I'm not blown away at all.

The Apple Watch is a bunch of chips in a stainless steel or gaudy gold plated case made in China. $350 is a lot to pay to get notifications and some virtual remote control of the iPhone in your pocket.

So is the iWatch a paperweight if you're phone runs out of battery?

Remember when you felt special and different for having an iPhone... Before everybody cashing welfare checks started getting one... We'll, now you and your hippie friends can feel special again with the new Apple Watch! Hurry up and enjoy it now before everybody has one and you'll have to find something else that makes you elite!

Hoss Nasty,

The iphone 6 is faster than your HTC phone. The iphone 5S is faster than your HTC phone as well. In addition, pixels are pointless beyond a certain point - the more pixels you have the more energy it takes to drive those pixels. What's the point of having pixels that aren't visible but have tradeoffs like increased battery drain. Spec sheet nerdgasm stuff is pointless.

I felt so cool when I first got my iPhone. Not gonna lie. People looked at it like it was from outer space. Hooray for being elite.

Yeah compared to the best offerings right now from Motorola and LG, Apple definitely fails hard on looks and on price.....

Moto 360 - $250

LG Watch R - $????

How are you so ignorant? There IS a visible difference between my screen and the iPhone 6 screen, I can guarantee that. The nonvisible difference is between something like the lg g3 and my phone. Not between iPhone and my phone. Maybe you're old and can't tell either way, but there is a difference. My HTC one blows your 5s out of the water when it comes to power, and if that 1.4 GHz and 1 GB of ram is true, then it blows the 6 out of the water as well. This "spec sheet nerdgasm stuff" is how you know which one is faster, not your personal bias towards apple.

Anyone know what time specifically I can preorder the new iPhone? I know it's on September 12th, but I seem to remember they open it up in the middle of the night usually.

I bet you think AMD processors with their ghzzzz and corezzz are faster than their intel counterparts, too?
HossAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Uhh no. I'm just saying that my phone is faster than yours. There are specs that prove that, and even if they had equal specs, yours would still be slower due to the slow animations and navigation in iOS. You don't seem to understand that. You say yours is faster without any proof, and I'm throwing actual facts at you that you just disregard.

I was saying that Barry was ignorant for comparing the apple watch to something like a Rolex.
