I have been fighting with my IT dept for a year trying to get a computer for our office. Going to just break down and buy one through a supplier. We can order from Staples...but they don't say what comes pre-installed.
Any suggestions for OS between windows 7, 7 professional, 8, 8 professional, or 8.1 (those are the choices).
I really just need word, excell, and web browsing!

Win 7 professional and you will need to but Office separate.

Yep, get Win7 pro and you should be able to find Office 365 for cheap.

agree here. i mean i know there's bad IT out there, but if you don't know they're separate purchases, it'll probably be better to go through them.

to answer the title question, no.

only windows rt comes with office, and even that is for non-commercial use.
