I'm not digging launching from a browser. You also have to be in-game before changing the options? Freggin annoying when you get capped trying to change your key bindings.

I will say the graphics look good even with my HD5770. I'm impressed.

I guess no one here played the BC2 beta. That thing was an unmitigated disaster compared to the 90% baked product we're getting here.

Meh, it's a beta. They did the same thing with BC2. The beta wasn't long before the release but it was an old build. In the end, the release is probably going to have most of the issues already fixed and we'll probably get a day 1 patch to go with it to fix additional stuff from feedback for the beta.

I'm probably about to get ostracized, but it didn't feel that much different than Bad Company 2. Controls did feel smoother. I do like the change with assault also being the medic. Also, I thought it was weird that they chose a level without vehicles.

I realize it's just a beta, but the way everyone's been talking, I thought I would be blown away.

Xbox player, btw.

I am getting pretty pissed off I keep getting booted from servers after a min of playtime.

Expectations for a beta have been absurd.

Played on Xbox - graphics feel really rough and not polished, also had some tearing and screen flickering. Probably just beta stuff though.

Not sure how the chat works but I was not in a squad and kept hearing one guy yelling and screaming about how bad the beta was. Saw no options for muting him either.

The only way to get to the full game options is to either exit to the main screen or actually spawn into the game. The spawn screen does not give the full options menus for the game (not that I could easily find).

agreed, i actually had problems trying to quit the game between games.

i had to wait to be loaded onto a team, class, etc, and then exit to main screen.

frustrating, but the game was still pretty damn fun.


i also had some problems. such as:

my screen randomly stayed the grey color when i almost died until i paused/unpaused it, and it went back to full color.

i had some problems sprinting (ie, sometimes i couldnt sprint)

went prone out in the grass and ducked below the map

I can't even get it to connect to EA on the Xbox, everyone else the same??

Battlefield tweeted that the servers are down on Xbox right now... they are working on it

I wake up from my nap to find out i cant enjoy the simple pleasures of blowing people up lol.

Can you play with guests right now on Xbox?? Just wondering if i can invite a buddy over so we can goof around on it.

Got a little time in the PS3 version before work. I really think it's better (not a major surprise) than the Xbox version. It runs smoother and the graphics as a whole are slightly better.

If all my friends weren't rocking Xbox, I'd be switching my pre-order.

Downloaded the beta on 360 an hour ago. Can't connect to servers. Gonna give it a whirl on PS3 - downloading now. Anyone know if they're out on both consoles and PC or just 360?

I had no problem jumping in a PS3 game when the Xbox servers went down.

Just downloaded for 360 but EA servers are down. Sadness.

360 version- not that impressed. I realize it is beta, but the gameplay does not seem as smooth as black ops. Also the maps look weird to me - like there is too much contrast or something.

vehicles will probably add something, but I won't be buying. Bored with the FPS genre overall.

Oh boy... here we go...

Had a 40+ kill, 10k round going and got d/c'ed right at the end.

Been getting random disconnects on PC but I have a feeling its on my end.

I still cant get on xbox.

So far I am a little disappointed.

It's a beta, but with that in mind, in 2 hrs, I've encountered 3 pretty big bugs:
-Everytime I quit, I encountera never-ending loading screen. 5 for 5.
-Everytime I switch classes, I respawn with no gun. About 25% of the time
-Under the map glitch near A Bomb in the 1st 2 bombs. Run at something, go underneath, kill everyone. Hope its fixed.
-Whenever the "saving" thing pops up on the bottom right after I die, respawn with no gun. 5 for 5 here too. It’s a beta, but it makes the beta unplayable if I can’t finish a game.

Everyone knows the good about the game, but here is the bad of the game:
-No muting of annoying teammates
-Not the best kill cam. Where did I die from? The kill cam they use currently is WAY too close. It’s like the camera guy is 6 inches from the guy shooting. Gives no view of the background or where he is.
-Guns. I prob just haven't found it yet, but where can I see the gun stats. Strengths/Weaknesses, etc.
-A bit of screen tearing.

Minor Annoyances
-No countdown to respawn
-No Grenade Signal. I’ve been killed by grenades without knowing there was one near me.
-Hit markers could use work. Especially with Snipers
-Is the HUD meant to show enemy gunfire like in COD? Because if its meant to, it sucks.
-If you don’t spawn on teammate, forget it. You will spawn half a mile away from everyone.

I hope they iron everything out. I am so hoping it is a COD killer.

Played a few games on ps3. For a beta it wasn't too bad.

I just played back-to-back rounds on PS3 and Xbox to confirm my earlier thoughts and I'm 100 percent certain the PS3 version of the game is either better in general or was just further along in development when they finished the beta build.

It looks better and feels better. The Xbox is clunky, buggy, and looks like a cartoon with it's oversaturated colors. The PS3 is smooth, seems to have less major bugs, and the colors aren't blindingly bright.

The HUD also seems to fit on the screen better on the PS3. The Xbox HUD is all over the place, despite adjusting the screen size in the settings.

Even though I tend to do better on the Xbox (it seems the average player is oblivious to the goals in BF), I enjoy playing on PS3 more because it's a smoother experience. Here's hoping the final release is cleared up... my pre-order is still for the Xbox version.

Random thought (partly unrelated to the above): I honestly think DICE underestimated what this Beta would mean to some people...

Played one full game last night on the 360. Liked it in general. Camping seems to be easier on BF3 vs BC2, since the players blend in more with the environment and don't pop from their surroundings. Wasn't crazy about the map that was offered - I thought it was too linear, not enough room for flanking. Bullet damage seemed close to hardcore in BC2, which I like. Tried to play with a group, which was a massive fail, so we backed out and played Gears.

Still haven't pre-ordered, but I intend to as soon as Amazon offers up the expansion pack.

I like that it doesn't actually show where your killer is. I never liked the kill cam.

People have unreasonable expectations. Considering how unreasonable longtime BF fans can be, I'd be a little surprised if they didn't understand it.

I'm guessing he is talking about the Back to Karkand pack...which is available with every limited edition pre-order regardless of retailer. If there is another pack, I'm unaware of it.

For those with connection problems on the Xbox... just keep hitting A after you select the MP option. Pilmer gave me that trick last night and it worked right away. Typically I would just sit there and the disconnect EA servers deal would come up. Give that a try.

So I played both the 360 and PS3 Versions last night and I really couldn't tell much difference. Maybe I need to have both on at the same time and see if I can really do a side-by-side comparison. I only played 1 game on PS3 and it was fine besides that crappy excuse for a controller... man it's horrible for FPS!!! I played maybe 4-5 games on 360 so I had more time to find bugs and once the framerate (or maybe it was lag) got so bad that it was almost unplayable.

But as far as graphics and effects go they seemed about the same on both consoles and well below the PC videos we've been seeing for months now. I'm OK with it for now but we need the new consoles to come out in the next year or two... they are showing their age.
