Well, my Wife is putting together our Baby Registry and instead of getting one of the traditional baby monitors I'd much rather have something that is network based that could possibly tie into a surveillance system in the future. Any recommendations? It would of course need to have audio so that we could hear the baby as well as see it.

Have you used it with wireless router and able to view the video outside your home (not on the wireless network)?

I am concerned with difficulty of wireless router 'firewall'...

My biggest concern is the audio, I see it has audio in and out on the back....do you need to use those to hear the audio or can you get it through the NIC as well?

I'm debating about coupling this with a traditional sound only baby monitor as it would be nice to have a dedicated device just for the sound instead of having to somehow rout the audio to my phone, PC or stereo.
