Announcer in Australia/Japan game just said, he thought USA would employ 4-5-1 formation. I guess take out EJ and put in Convey.
nah with a 4-5-1 we will run convey on the left midfield position probably. Reyna, Donovan, and O'Brien in CM (With donovan mostly playing like a forward), then Beasley on the right. Mcbride will start up front with Johnson subbing in at some time during the second half. Thats how I'd start out at least. Its a very defensive formation, which I think we need until we figure out how good Czech is going to play against us

I'm with you wessimo. I've been thinking 3-2 USA or a 2-2 tie. I can't imagine us keeping CR under 2 goals, but I also cant see them keeping us from finding the net a few times.

I was expecing to see Bocanegra in the back. How come he isnt starting? He seemed to have played really well in all the warm-up games.
i think Boca is a great 1st sub if the starting backline doesnt do well.
it shocks me to read some of the european comments on the fifa website. they act like 2002 was a fluke and American soccer is still untalented and way over-rated. to them we are outclassed by nearly every team in the Cup. God i hope we bring it today to shut some of those euro-*******s up.

In truth, we were lucky to get out of the group in 2002. Poland destroyed us and we owe Korea for the late goal against Portugal. So I can see why some people are still skeptical of us.

I HATE HATE HATE the 4-5-1. The last time we ran that for a whole game was the loss in Mexico City early on in qualifying. By starting this formation, Bruce looks scared.
But I have a feeling it's going to be more like a 4-4-1-1 with Donovan well ahead of the rest of the midfield and Convey running deep on the left wing. Depending on the situation, we might see JOB and/or Eddie Johnson in the second half.
